We have some great news to share today -

[h3]Forgotten Seas is officially joining forces with Freedom Games![/h3]

For those of you who may not know, having a game publisher like Freedom Games greatly helps indie devs like myself focus on game development while they handle all the behind-the-scenes magic. From helping manage store pages to crafting marketing campaigns and even helping the game shine at both digital and live events, publishers help in all the aspects that indie developers often struggle with.

Freedom Games felt like home right from the get-go! We had worked on "Forgotten Seas" for several years before it saw the light of day. The decision to share your hard work is always a tough one. Several publishers were interested in our project, and it was clear to us that our project had outgrown our small indie team.

Freedom Games stood out clearly because of their resolve to help small indie teams, their extensive background in classic gaming, and their drive to ensure that the games offer something deeper than just the first couple hours (something that has eroded over the last decade). We like in-depth games and wanted a publisher that shared the same passion for our project, as we had. We believe that our partnership with Freedom Games will thrive in the coming years.

Closed Beta Update - Bug Fixes, QoL additions, and Credits

  • Crafting window now shows total amount of resource in your bag (ex: Fiber 11/2)
  • Added a border in the Hotkey bar on tool/weapon that is equipped.
  • Golden Shovel now works properly with Buried Loot on the tropical fruit island.
  • When gear doesn't have a socket, the "Socket" button is now disabled
  • Torch can now be crafted at level 7
  • Rope recipe in "C" crafting is now at the top for quicker access
  • Raft recipe added to Workbench
  • Added Blowing Sand visuals to Dead Man's Island
  • Added some sparkle effects to valuables at Treasure Island and Ice Fields.
  • New Scavenger Hunt and Warboat quests on the start island
  • Renamed Raft Part 1 quest to Drying Leather
  • Added bolded text for important information in most quests

  • Omni Cannonballs now weight 2 instead of 4
  • Adjusted distance to Ghost Archer with a sword during auto navigation
  • Added more flotsams near the starter plane crash site.
  • Added some scavenger ships near some shipwrecks
  • Fixed some incorrect UI text.
  • Character screen text was modified to include Credits.
  • Adjusted some animation deaths of some enemies.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing some sounds to be audible even when ambiance was turned off.
  • Fixed an occasional "Invalid" error issue when moving items in inventory using quick transfer which was causing unpredictable behavior.
  • Quick transfer was optimized to be faster and efficient.

Closed Beta Update - Pirate Hideout

Dread Pirates have blocked your access to fresh fruit and sugarcane! No Sugarcane, no Rum! They have taken over your secret paradise. Help Fort Pangea fight back and recover these resources.

  • Laid some groundwork for a future multiplayer update.

  • New "Master Key" can be purchased with Stamps from Sir Jim.
  • New quest added to Deadman's to craft a Potent Poison to prepare for the Paradise Island
  • New quest added to Captain Nyx to bring her a Medallion in exchange for Stamps
  • New recipe added to the Workbench to craft a Medallion
  • New melee Pirate enemies on Deadman's Island during the daytime

  • New wakes and sounds on Raft, Warboat and Sailboat
  • Warboat speed has been slightly increased.
  • Cutter speed has been slightly increased.
  • Ship Cannons now fire more naturally instead of simultaneously.
  • New wakes to Sharks, Scavengers, Reinforcements and Tropical Blockade

  • Sound FX normalized for tools and weapons
  • Hurricane is now fading in when it starts
  • Added sound to clams and sea glass when picked up
  • Adjusted Pangea Invasion event sounds
  • New hit FX added
  • New enemies found throughout the Bermuda with Kickstarter reward tier names
  • Added posters to the Bounty Board
  • Added wanted posters around Pangea town with Kickstarter reward tier names

  • Optimized scene loading
  • Building/removing walls, floors and roof with the building hammer now has a sound and FX
  • Fixed gap issue with triangle plank piece
  • "I" will also open inventory window
  • Fixed a bug that was destroying items and not returning them to player when island disappears
  • Added sparkle FX to some special items throughout the Bermuda
  • Adjusted Tempest graphic that would cause the sky to flicker during certain camera movements
  • Adjusted some quest text for better readability
  • Fixed an issue with the farm plot when growing grapes
  • Fixed a missile bug where players could not be damaged by enemy ships

Closed Beta Update - building options

[h3]Base Building:[/h3]
  • The height limit from sea level on builds has been increased slightly to allow taller builds.
  • New triangle roof options added to plank building menu.
  • New destroy and drop item option added to all buildings in the long click menu.
  • You can now destroy most building items for resources or recover the item back.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing multiple walls to stack at the same location.

[h3] Usability:[/h3]
  • Added shortcut key to disable non-essential tooltips should players no longer need them.
  • Added steps/stairs to ship decks.
  • Durability bars on wearable items now shows up inside the inventory and storage chests.
  • E now opens and closes interaction windows.
  • Adjusted some windows to close automatically.
  • Medium chest lid now opens and closes correctly.
  • Adjusted building snap points to snap easier.
  • Adjust colors on UI backgrounds for better visibility of icons.

[h3] Gameplay:[/h3]
  • Adjusted minimap icons for NPCs
  • Adjusted the text for readability inside inventory.
  • Sasquatch now drops more prime meat and fur.
  • Poison drop rates have been slightly increased from Mushrooms.
  • You can now craft rope in the workbench and player crafting.
  • Added a new Scavenger Pirate ship enemy.
