Update Notes for Mar 14

• Score did not reset properly for File 04 replays
• "Play hangout three" pop-up was not translated

File 04 is Here!

Note: This update may break old saves as it contains improvements to previous Files!

In this update...

File 04

In the final round of Stage Four, Team Tads investigates a series of murders at the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick. But the nature of the crime may not be as it first appeared... Will they solve the most complicated mystery yet?

Please note that the price of the game will increase after this week.

Theory/Interrogation QoL Update

Evidence is now separated into "pages" that you can easily access by clicking the page number tabs. You can also use A/D or arrow keys to quickly cycle through them. I hope that this makes it less frustrating to get to the evidence you want — and makes the game more accessible to people playing with trackpads or smaller screens.

I've also replaced the "triangle arrow" design for the submit button with "Submit!" text for all Theory/Interrogation/Support puzzles, as the design wasn't really clear enough and resulted in some confusion.

Smaller Improvements!

  • Some of Struess's dialog in Hangout Three changed to be more "hacker accurate".
  • The currently highlighted Hangout in the Hangouts menu now has a visual indicator that it is being highlighted.
  • Game-master did not announce the names of the mysteries in File 02 & 03, this has been corrected.
  • In File 01, the footage is now locked until you have the evidence you need to proceed, avoiding some backtracking issues

Enjoy File 04, and I hope you look forward to the next release... ;)

Best,

— LockedOn & Erabit

Devlog 56: Mad Rush

File 04's English version is done — now all that's left is the localization.

Here's what I worked on since the last devlog!

  • Finished minigames
  • Coded all the expressions
  • Created titlecards
  • UI completed

It will be a mad rush to get over the finish line, but File 04 will be released later this month! Hope you're looking forward to it!

Until next time!

— LockedOn.

Devlog 55: One Last Hill

File 04 is getting closer to completion!

Here's what I worked on since the last devlog!

  • Composing music tracks
  • Drawing CGs
  • Testing the game
  • Revising the mystery

With the revisions, CGs, and music done, that's all the major assets finished. There's just "one last hill" to get over — the methods minigames. I always put them off because it's another thing that I don't enjoy doing very much. However, knowing that they are the last major thing I have to do is a bit of a relief. There are still a few other remaining tasks on the list, but they are much easier — coding expressions, finishing the casefile, reskinning the score menu. And the translation work starts this month as well. I'm looking forward to finally finishing this File !

Until next time!

— LockedOn.
