Subnautica 2 teases new creatures and co-op among the coral

There's still no solid release date for Subnautica 2, but the studio making the fishy survival game have given folks a glimpse beneath the surface of development in a devlog video. There are shots of a bubbly submarine speeder pod, and a brief sighting of a sea creature that does an annoyed underwater bark at you, before headbutting something it doesn't like. We also get some idea of co-op, with footage of two players helping each other out - a feature that'll be new to this sequel.

Subnautica 2 kicks off its road to early access with its first dev vlog, diving into co-op and new features

Subnautica 2 has emerged from the deep courtesy of the first dev vlog from the team at Unknown Worlds, urging fans to jump into the game's Discord and look out for its eventual Early Access release on Steam, as well as providing peaks at gameplay, new creatures, and co-op in action.

When is the Subnautica 2 release date? A decade after the original Subnautica launched into the deep blue sea of early access, Unknown Worlds has finally revealed the hit series' next evolution.

While it promises more of the same open-water exploration we love, Subnautica 2 is finally bringing a native multiplayer experience to the table. However, just because you've got a few buddies to go diving with, that doesn't mean the survival game will be any less terrifying than its predecessor. Subnautica 2 system requirements

The Subnautica 2 system requirements are live, and one of the most wishlisted games on Steam is still aiming for an early 2025 access release date. Despite a seven-year gap since the original game came out, the system requirements haven't spiraled out of control, and you can still play the game on an Nvidia GeForce GTX GPU. One unfortunate oversight, however, is the lack of performance targets to let us know what to expect from each tier.

While the Subnautica 2 release window is still set for 2025, no exact date has been confirmed yet. Despite this, we already have the minimum and recommended specs you'll need to play Subnautica 2. While you won't need the best graphics card on the market, if your gaming PC only just about ran the original game, you're going to need some upgrades.
