Dev Log: Next Update Plans and New Track Teaser!

heyhey racers,

With the dust fully settled now on a busy few months in the world of Stampede: Racing Royale, our team wanted to check in with you folks via our latest Dev Log. So, here it is!

Last week’s patch followed some of the most significant updates to Stampede to date. Alongside our official launch on Steam in October, a huge selection of tracks, karts, customisation items, and entirely new ways to play were added. Then came more features and quality of life improvements, and the latest patch to tidy up a few things. All of this came at the end of a busy ol’ year, developing the game through Xbox Insider Program and Xbox Game Preview.

It’s been quite a 2024, and the main news to share in this Dev Log is confirmation that the next significant update for Stampede: Racing Royale will come in 2025. We’re making sure our team have time to rest, relax, and prepare for the new year.

Of course, we’ll continue to monitor the game and community feedback throughout December, just in case something pops up that requires action. Minor optimisations are being worked on and if they are ready to roll out in December, we’ll do so and share details.

Special Events will continue to rotate, our live Twitch Drops event will run until December 6, and a fresh set of Twitch Drops is planned for December, too – so there’s still plenty to get stuck into!

Work is already well underway on that first update of the new year, and we’re excited for the additions and improvements we’re putting into place for you. Expect fresh content, new stuff requested by players, and more general enhancements to the action.

One thing we can reveal is that a new track is expected to drop in that next update. Wanna sneak peak of it? Well, since you asked so nicely…

The entire team here at Sumo Leamington and Secret Mode are mega grateful for all of your support for Stampede in 2024. We’ve loved taking the game from strength to strength whilst building a community with you, and we’re excited to go even bigger and better, together, in 2025.

Chat with our team and fellow players on Discord, and follow those usual channels on Instagram, YouTube, and X to keep up to date. We hope you have an awesome end to 2024, and look forward to sharing more with you in the new year!

New Stampede: Racing Royale Update! Fresh Features, Improvements & More

Heyhey racers,

It’s been a total blast welcoming Steam players back to the wild world of Stampede: Racing Royale, as we fully launched the game on Steam in October, joining Xbox Game Preview folks.

We marked the launch with a major update, including a host of new features and experiences – but we’re not stopping there! Today we’re sharing details on the next Stampede update, going live on all platforms very soon.

Look out for new content, community-requested tweaks, and more improvements. Let’s get into it!
NEW ROUND MODIFIER!
After adding the unforgiving ‘Hard Mode’ in our last update, another dangerous round modifier is coming. Look out for ‘Fire Walls’! This can be triggered on certain tracks in the third and final round, and causes flaming obstacles to move along the track. Steer clear of the fire, else you’ll be immediately eliminated...

No two rounds in Stampede will ever be the same, with a wide range of tracks and four different round modifiers to potentially take on. We'll also be adding another new map following the release of this update. Watch this space!
REWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
By popular demand, Achievements have been added to Steam, giving you new ways to flex your Stampede skills. In-game, there are more ways you can boost your rewards, too. Get a bump in post-match moolah by playing in a Party – the more Party members you have, the higher the rewards boost you’ll get! Each Kart in your Garage will also give you a limited-time boost in rewards every day – so mix up your machine of choice to make use of their XP and currency multipliers.

Still racing hard to add new Karts to your collection? New in-game guidance will show you how to unlock them – and once you’ve grabbed all six of the new Karts, a unique customisation reward is waiting for you.
TECH TWEAKS AND MORE MUSIC!
A selection of gameplay tweaks have been made, driven by player feedback, to further improve the Stampede experience, including minor changes to Kart performance, power-ups, on-track hazards, and Boost. Listen out for brand new music, and for the music to dynamically change as a race unfolds. Further optimisation for Steam Deck is included, along with more fixes. Our patch notes archive will include a full breakdown of this update’s contents before it goes live.

Join us on Discord to chat about the new update with our team and fellow players, and follow us on X, Instagram, and YouTube to stay in the loop as we get things ready. In the meantime, time for some practice matches...

Stampede: Racing Royale is Launching on Steam! Everything You Need to Know

heyhey racers,

The title says it all – Stampede: Racing Royale is coming back to Steam! Let’s go!

First things first, a HUMONGOUS thank you to Steam players for your patience and support, since the most recent Steam Playtest for Stampede earlier this year. After building a community with you and making improvements to the game with your support through multiple playtests, we’re hyped to now fully launch the game on Steam.

This will indeed be a full, free-to-play launch for Stampede: Racing Royale – not a playtest, or Early Access period. This move has been made to ensure as many folks as possible have the chance to experience and enjoy the game on Steam at an important time.

We don’t currently have a set roadmap, or update schedule, for the game beyond this launch. We’ll be continuing to chat with you, both here and on Discord, to help us shape where Stampede goes from here, so your participation and feedback remains vital.

There’s so much fun new stuff to dive into once we launch on Steam, but before we get into that, here are a couple of key things we’d like you to know:
IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR STEAM LAUNCH
To help all players experience Stampede to its fullest, in-game purchases using real currency will be unavailable on all platforms. However, you can still use in-game currency (Coins, XP, Star Chips) to purchase and unlock items across the game. To ensure that all players can still access all content in the game, such as the premium Season Pass, every player will receive an additional 3,000 Star Chips to their game account, to use however you wish.

Finally, we’re extending the window for Season 0 into early 2025, allowing Steam players the time to progress through the current Season Pass and other features.
BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER!
If you played Stampede: Racing Royale during our Steam Playtests, prepare for more fun and chaotic 60-player karting action, with a whole host of new stuff to check out!

Alongside faster gameplay and new modifiers (including a ‘Hard Mode’ where players can be instantly eliminated in the final round…), look out for six new maps, seven new karts, and over 250 customisation items. Progress through the new Daily Calendar, find more perks and rewards in Kart Mastery, use the new Jelly Block power-up, and so much more.

Finally, we’re over the moon to be collaborating with Mintrocket for the Dave the Diver collaboration – a completely free batch of content inspired by the fantastic game, including an additional kart and customisation items, bringing Dave and Bancho into the world of Stampede!

A full breakdown of what’s new can be found on our website here. Follow us on X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch to stay in the loop on exactly when we’re going live on Steam. We can’t wait to see you on the track. From the entire Stampede team, thank you

Stampede: Racing Royale - Dev Log #7

heyhey folks,

We’re back with a new Dev Log for Stampede: Racing Royale, to update you on the status of our Early Access launch. Let’s dive right into it.
Early Access Sit Rep
As you may’ve seen today, Stampede’s next launch phase is beginning on Xbox platforms. Our brilliant team are continuing to work hard on also launching the game into Early Access on Steam, and as soon as we have more details to provide, we’ll do so right here. Apologies for not having a clear timeframe at this moment – we'll keep working away so we can provide more specifics.

The availability of Stampede on other platforms will help us gather more knowledge on the game’s performance, and make further improvements, which will benefit all players once we go live on Steam. Our devs are already working on additional updates and content for the game, which are set to be included in the Steam Early Access version. More on that to come.

Just a heads up, too, that Windows PC users can check out Stampede: Racing Royale right now, if they wish, by heading to the Xbox app or Microsoft Store and downloading Stampede for free.
The Road Ahead
We say it a lot here, but now so more than ever, we want to thank you folks for your support. Stampede: Racing Royale has been shaped by your feedback over the past 12 months. We totally get that Steam players will want to join the action as soon as possible, so we’ll keep working to make that happen.

Changes to content, progression, gameplay speed, UI, UX, and more have been implemented in recent months, all driven by community feedback. Our collaboration with y’all will continue once Steam Early Access gets going. We’ll keep you posted.

Take care
