Spanky Early Access - 0.5.1.9 hotfix

New
  • Server browser has been added so now you can see live games and join from there. Servers also show their region.
  • Network connection status is now visible by default for all new players. Spanky is intended to be a party game with online functionality, many players have been connecting to 200+ ping hosts without realizing it. We will continue with all our efforts to polish and increase the quality of the online experience. However, having the network connection status on by default should give new players a quick idea of the quality of the host they have connected to.


Bug Fixes
  • Hot Buttato should no longer change 1st place to last place
  • Added more climbable ledges to Rust Park
  • All Sandbox tokens can now be collected (no more stuck underground)
  • Vines on pillars should no longer have extra leaf collision
  • Main play buttons now have SFX
  • Potential fix for Death Tag scoring

Bugs

so... there will be bugs! But we are dedicated to fixing as many as we possibly can. This is our first launch title so we know it won't be perfect, but with your help, we can make it even better.

In-game you can find a bug reporter dedicated for quickly noting down bugs you find. You can also see other reports from other users. This is still experimental but we do check it. Otherwise, you can join our discord and notify us directly through the bug channels.

Help & Tips

Spanky can be a difficult game if you aren't expecting the bombastic movement! here are some tips from us!
  • First, we do have an in-game help menu. It goes over movement, modes & all powers. It's useful if you can be bothered to read it!
  • Movement is key. this game can let you MOVE. So practice in the sandbox! Slide and jump a lot, they both help!
  • Some modes can throw things to stun others! Currently, Cops and Buttato can throw these things.
  • Sprinting, Crouching and Slapping all have unique control options to adjust how they function and feel.
  • Crouching while you jump can help you reach higher ledges.
  • On the note of climbing, every map has a unique "climbable" colour, keep an eye out for these, any ledges or walls with colourful moss & grass are climbable.
  • Twerking! Yes, you can twerk with E (by default). This is funny, but can also help in certain game scenarios.

Hey Booty Jigglers,

Thank you all for playing our Steam demo during Next Fest and the following weeks!
It has been a blast to see everyone play, and we have a lot of work on our plates. We never intended for the demo to stay up this long, but it was just too great to see everyone have so much fun.

[h3]For us to keep pushing on, we need to focus on the main game - so the demo will be taken down.[/h3]

Unless you join our discord (do it now!) there likely won't be too much noise around here until release.

[h2]Post-Demo Notes[/h2]

  • The Steam demo will be taken down tomorrow night. Hopefully, you have saved some Tushie Tokens!
  • We will be taking the 3 modes available in the demo, expanding into our 9+ modes and fleshing all of them out to bring out the purest booty-slapping party mayhem of each mode.
  • New modes, maps, cosmetics, FX, audio & QoL improvements are all being worked on for release. We will be looking for beta testers to join us in our last test right before release, so join the discord or visit our website to sign up.
  • All the Tushie Tokens you save up will transfer into the main game, as well as the cosmetics you currently own.
  • The crashes are still our top priority. The more players we have, the easier it will be to fix - so if you would like to help out please sign up for our beta so we can do everything in our power to squash everything before release.

Demo Update #2 - Workin' on it!

Hey everyone!

Wow! What a week, SMii7Y and Nogla both reached out to us - so all of those crews have been uploading wonderful Spanky content to YouTube!! It's been a blast to see everyone play.
[h3]The game crashes a lot!![/h3]
It is very hard to fix a game faster than you can play! But we are working on it!

We acknowledge and apologize for the frustrating crashes people may be experiencing. It seems to be a memory conflict on the server, which then also causes clients to crash. We never saw this in our testing, but with 20,000 unique players there is much more data and playtime for these issues to occur.

We are a 2 person team and we are working very hard to find the root causes and nail them down. All your crash reports do help. We never expected this much engagement so early into our demo. So we appreciate everyone for sticking through this annoying time with us, giving feedback or any form of information that may help.

Update 0.4.9.1


  • Disconnecting from sessions will now sometimes give a better reason as to why you disconnected (full lobby, host left etc.)
  • Full lobbies will no longer get notifications of players trying to enter and disconnecting straight away
  • Powerups now have a UI status! This is just a cosmetic change, but may be helpful to give more context to each powerup.
  • Lumbar launch is now a single trigger. No more "hold to charge" as many players wouldn't fully charge and receive a full launch, there is no reason to keep this. Timing and power may still be balancing.
  • Swimming in sandbox is fixed, previously you could not manually float up and would float up very slowly.
  • Transparency of items should be fixed, like a powerup or ghost against the sky or water.
  • Speed wind sound effect should stop playing when you die, sometimes it would get stuck and keep playing after respawning.
Hotfix 0.4.9.3
  • Fixed negative lobby numbers. Sorry to those affected over the 24hr window!
  • Lumbar launch now triggers in air and water, no annoying canceling with each jump, swim etc.
  • slight adjustments to Atmos to catch on lower layer, more to come.
