Spring Update 5.2: Quick Play, New UI, Outfits & More!

As revealed in our previous news post, it's time for a big Spring update - read on for what's included in 5.2!

[h3]Fresh new UI[/h3]
Internally, we called this Phase 2 of the UI overhaul. In our previous update, we improved our in-game UI and now you will see the rest of the UI re-design implemented.



[h3]Demon Outfits[/h3]
We're excited to bring you the next in our series of characters' demon form outfits - this time, it's Molly!



We've also tweaked April's demon outfit to add a face design in keeping with her appearance in The Manor. This upgrade will apply retroactively to those who have already purchased April's outfit.



[h3]Background Music[/h3]
You can now choose which music to listen to in the menu. Enjoy switching between unique tracks all composed for DEVOUR. You can also purchase the DEVOUR soundtrack here.



[h3]Quick Play[/h3]
The Quick Play button is here! This has been another popular request from players. You can now jump into a DEVOUR run faster than ever.



[h3]VR Keyboard[/h3]
An on-screen keyboard has been added to VR mode. If you haven't played DEVOUR in VR mode (and have the set up), give it a try - it takes the scares to a whole new level.



[h3]Upcoming Map[/h3]
For those who missed it, our previous post teased some details about our upcoming map, The Carnival. Check it out now.

Full 5.2 changelog

  • Phase 2 of the updated UI added
  • New outfit added for Molly: 'Inpatient'
  • April's Outfit 'Here Comes The Bride' upgraded
  • Quick Play button added to server browser
  • Main menu music selector added
  • VR virtual keyboard for inputs added
  • Removed the Perks toggle from lobby host settings. Players can still decide to play without perks if they desire. Note: The weekly challenge for winning without perks requires all players to not have any perks selected.
  • Added a new animation for when a Dirty Head is Tamed on The Manor
  • Fixed a bug where Sam or Nathan could get stuck when trying to take a shortcut
  • Fixed a bug where Nathan could get stuck after knocking out on staircases
  • Fixed a bug where Zara could sometimes get stuck after vomiting an egg
  • Fixed a few thin floor colliders that allowed goats to fall through the floor on The Farmhouse basement (very edge case)
  • Nathan now animates correctly if players win a game while he is mid-knockout

Development News: Spring Update

Hi goat burners!

Today we're sharing what's arriving in our next update, due for release this Spring. Read on for details of what's in store for 5.2!


  • Phase 2 of the UI overhaul: we recently updated our in-game UI, but 5.2 will see the rest of the UI re-design implemented.

  • As previously announced, we are planning to release each character's demon outfit. In 5.2, Molly's will be available.

  • Lots of players have requested a way to change the background music in the menu or lobby, so we're also implementing this.

  • An on-screen keyboard will be added to VR mode.

  • Another frequently requested feature is a Quick Play button on the server browser, which is also in the works for 5.2.


[h3]Upcoming Map[/h3]

We know fans are always eager to learn more about our next map release. We can tell you that we're hard at work, and development is going well. We'll update you with more information soon, but for now we can reveal that the map name is The Carnival, and the demon is Kai! We are still targeting the pre-Halloween period for release.

Here is the small changelog for v5.1.4.

  • Christmas event ends
  • Fixed a Mac issue of flickering textures on The Inn
  • Fixed rare case where the Difficulty flame icon rendered incorrectly in lobbies
  • Fixed a spot near animal pens where Nathan could get stuck on The Slaughterhouse
  • In-game menu black background is now slightly more opaque
  • In-game menu buttons now have improved mouse hover hitboxes
  • In-game keys list (K) can now be opened and closed in quick succession without bugging

  • Mute and Text Chat Mute buttons in the lobby are now translated without needing to be used first
  • Fixed an occlusion / LOD issue on Farmhouse
  • Fixed an issue with a demon spawning in the breakfast room on Farmhouse ending up below the floor
  • Added new stat for easy mode wins
  • Pausing and unpausing the game during the intro of possessed Anna in single player on Farmhouse no longer skips the door open
  • Fixed single player lobby not necessarily showing the correct settings if re-created
