Version 1.0j - Build 132 - SubBuild 2024.7.5

Here is version 1.0j of TEM2, with improvements & new features from TE4, as usual, and this time again there's a ton of it coz the game hasn't been updated in a while ! 😛
New Features :
- Controls : the correct controller is automatically selected when assigning a button or combination in Settings -> Controls (so you don't have to worry about selecting your controller if you have more than 1 connected)
- Controls : option to invert up/down for the strike combinations when your player is on the far side of the court (like in TE2013 ! 🙃 )
- Animation : smoothing of the reach for the Dynamic Animation system, which should prevent jerkiness when swapping between the regular & slice animations or when doing left/right movements to position your player
- Rendering : ball outline (you can turn it on in Settings -> 3D Match) ; it's especially useful if you play with a low display resolution and/or with the 1st or 3rd person camera
- Localization : Italian translation updated, thanks to pupattolino75 !
- Play Style : the new description of the All-Court Attacker is (ie: he got a speed bonus for his normal & topspin strikes) =>
 • 1 extra acceleration
 • bigger jumps at the net
 • big speed bonus for shoulder height acceleration
 • up to +3km/h on normal & topspin strikes, whatever the power is

- Play Style : the new description of the All-Rounder is (ie: he got a speed bonus for his normal & topspin strikes, as well a topspin bonus for his topspin strike) =>
 • 1 extra acceleration
 • bigger jumps at the net
 • big speed bonus for shoulder height acceleration
 • up to +2km/h on normal & topspin strikes, whatever the power is
 • little topspin bonus on the topspin strike

- Play Style : slightly raise the jump bonus of the All-Rounder
- Animation : you can now disable the Crowd animation in Settings -> Video -> Advanced ; on less powerful PCs, it makes the game stutters a bit each time the crowd starts to applause
- Animation : you can now damper or turn off the Dynamic Animation system, which alters the strike animations (more info => topic15-35348.php )
- World Tour : rankings updated to the end of 2023 (but the 1st playable year is still 2023)
- Controls : added Tab Previous & Next, and Scroll Previous & Next as configurable buttons, and added shortcuts for them in different menus
- Localization : Spanish translation (proofread by Fed1) and German translation (proofread by starfighter006) are finally updated after several years !
- Camera : added a slider to make the camera movements slower in 3rd person mode when the ball passes your player (ie: it's mostly for the doubles)
- Controls : now the Configuration selection is separated from the Controller selection ; this allows you to easily share the same configuration between several controllers, or reassign the Controller without changing the Configuration in case the Controller index has changed (in case you have more than 1 controller)
- Controls : on PC, when possible, the game automatically reassigns on launch your last selected controller if its index changed (because you have plugged in or out another controller)
- Localization : Chinese translation updated, thanks to XK !
Changes :
- AI : better net rush on serve & volley for the CPU when the player is slow, and in doubles
- Menu : improved the selection with a controller and the arrow keys in the Settings menus, as well as in a few other menus
- AI : the CPU will now almost never rush the net after a very crossed strike (as it's too open to a down-the-line passing)
- Menu : when entering a new menu using the keyboard or the controller, the cursor is moved to the currently selected item
- AI : now the CPU will volley much less frequently in the direction of his opponent standing near a lane line, except on difficult volleys
- AI : your player & the CPU, when standing near or after the baseline, know much better when the ball will end long, and thus won't play it, except when it's very close to being in
- Strikes : the slice was too fast when having low consistency
- Strikes : slightly increased the loss of precision when returning a slice
- Strikes : lowered the maximum possible topspin when having a very low power (to avoid weird moonballs for Junior players)
- Strikes : slightly raised the racket sweet spot size while moving, so it's now a bit easier to strike the ball on the run
- AI : the Incredible CPU now aims a bit less to the center
- Controls : the default control scheme for the controllers was not really not optimal ; it is now changed to the 1 button-per-strike template that fits better the Xbox & Playstation controllers
- Strike : slightly lowered the loss of precision when returning a slice with a 2H-BH or 1H-BH
- Strike : strongly lowered the tiring handicap on heavy topspin strikes, and even more for the Defender style
- Physics : slightly changed the ball size so it gets a tiny bit more air drag, more on par with current balls on the real World Tour (but it's only like 1/60th of a second longer for the ball to travel from one player to his opponent 😅 )
- Physics : the players with high running speed need now a bit more time to stop their run
- Gameplay : the Bulldog has now a little bonus to more easily hit the ball on the run
- Gameplay : raised the Short Acceleration speed a bit, especially when it's done at shoulder height
- Gameplay : hitting an acceleration against a raising/falling ball now lowers the precision in extreme cases and a bit less the accel speed (and still reduces the speed as before in normal cases)
- Gameplay : accelerations are a tiny bit longer
- Gameplay : All Rounder & All-court Attacker's normal strike speed bonus now applies only to the forehand and not to the backhand anymore
Bug Fixes :
- Acceleration Trait : the Rapid Fire was getting a 5km/h speed bonus instead of handicap !
- AI : fixed a bunch of glitches for the CPU players in doubles
- Controls : the Open Menu button wasn't working during the game
- Menus : the tooltips could be incorrect when using the controller or keyboard
- World Tour : some saved games could be marked as Invalid if you had some saved games using different tour bases
- World Tour : playing with women was deleting the current saved game for the men
- Strikes : the safe strike done after charging the topspin could get way too much topspin, or even a weird banana lob effect if additionally charged with the slice
- Replay : a crash could occur when exiting the replay
- Controls : the game was crashing when mismatching button/axis for up/down in Settings -> Controls
- Modding : in Tour.ini, only the 1st period of YearPeriod was used
- Tutorial : after finishing a Tutorial lesson, it was not possible to continue a saved match, plus it created a couple of little glitches in the menus
- Modding : having different Grand Slams and/or different Country Cup rounds for different years could lead to some issues
- Menu : if no default font was defined, then the font padding for custom fonts was the one from the previous menu's default font (this was an issue for some Mods, not the base game as the default font was always defined for the base menus)
- Ini : WT_NewGame & WT_NewGameTEM usages from Tennis.ini were inverted, preventing to easily edit the starting skill points in the World Tour
- World Tour : loading a saved game where you had reached the end of your career was crashing
- World Tour : when playing with women, the current match couldn't be reloaded and the difficulty setting was always reset on game launch
- Menu : fixed the bug making all the Match Stats 0, which should also fix a couple of rare glitches in other menus
- Animation : when being lobbed, the player animation could constantly switch between the smash and another strike
- Modding : Modded sounds were not playing more or less randomly
- World Tour : in fictional years, the ranks were getting all messed up when some real players had manual rankings, leading to unknown players being way too strong
- AI : when doing a safe strike, the CPU could advance too much into the court
- Strikes : the drop shot speed could be too slow when done very crossed, leading to a too-high trajectory
- Animation : the players could do weird movements to try to look for the ball behind them if they had just missed it
- Controls : having a strike activated by a controller axis and another strike activated by the same axis plus a button could lead to the latter strike never getting registered
- World Tour : the Career Titles screen was crashing
- World Tour : looking at the match presentation screen for a final and then closing the game was making the game hang after have played the next match on the next game launch
- Menus : fixed a couple of tooltip issues when using the controller
- Strike : preparing a strike for a long time was canceling the handicap to do an acceleration on a raising/falling ball, making the topspin balls less effective than wanted
- AI : the CPU could walk a bit away from the ball and miss it when rushing the net
- Tutorial : doing a net on the 1st serve was crashing the game
- Controller : controller auto-selection didn't work when having more than 1 player in the World Tour
- Gameplay : the service line was seen as 0cm wide for the fault calls, making some balls fault when they should have been in
