Ghost Ship Games is making our... Esports debut?
Athletes spend a lifetime training for a moment like this.
Years of practice. Endless hours of honing kiting skills, tightening fast-twitch reflexes, building a master’s touch for baiting a Dreadnought into a supply pod.

All this, to get to the place where champions are forged: the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - Ultimate Challenge Invitationals.
What is the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - Ultimate Challenge Invitationals?
Put simply, it’s the absolute pinnacle of sporting competition. Presented by the Ghost Ship Sports Network in cooperation with the Interplanetary Dwarven Athletics Association (IDAA), the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - Ultimate Challenge Invitationals are a live broadcast Esports event, pitting players head-to-head for the highest score in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, as you may know, is the rogue-like auto-shooter spinoff of the original Deep Rock Galactic. It’s one dwarf, solo, against the infinite alien hordes of Hoxxes. Developed by Funday Games and published by Ghost Ship Publishing, the game just released their big Update 04, which introduces a new biome, a scoring system, and a whole hosts of ramped-up mutators and lethal challenges.

To mark the occasion, we’re making it the center of this groundbreaking esports event: the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - Ultimate Challenge Invitationals. We’ll be broadcasting live from the Ghost Ship Games HQ in Copenhagen, with live play-by-play commentary from our extremely qualified sports journalists and splitscreen coverage of all the action as it unfolds in this head-to-head single elimination tournament.

Expect adrenaline. Expect groundbreaking sports journalism. Expect nothing short of the greatest, most professionally-produced sports experience in recorded history: the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - Ultimate Challenge Invitationals.

Is this a joke? No. Sort of. We’ve lost track. But we are sure of one thing: We’re going live on Monday, November 4th at 17:00 CET.
Who’s competing in the Invitationals?
For this year’s Invitationals, we’ve brought in eight content creators, all of them well-versed in Deep Rock Galactic and DRG: Survivor. On Monday, November 4th, they’ll be competing head to head in our single elimination tournament, to make it to the finals and claim the title of World Heavyweight Champion.

This year’s competitors are:
 • Idlecub
 • Javarak Gaming
 • ThisTofu
 • Explorian (fka DRG Historian)
 • Sniss
 • Rexalicious
 • Wanderbots
 • Farham

These eight contestants will be assigned via random matchup for the Invitational’s four qualifier rounds. In each round, competitors will be playing head-to-head in a pre-seeded match on Hazard 5 difficulty. The player with the highest score will advance to the next stage of the tournament bracket, and eventually on to the finals – but only one can be the true champion.
What’s at stake?
Nothing short of the most coveted trophy in sports history: the DRG: Survivor World Heavyweight Champion title belt.

Handcrafted with authentic Glyphid leather and gold plating harvested directly from Hoxxes, the championship title is a symbol of dwarven fortitude, strength, and enduring spirit. It’s graced the waists of many proud miners – and this year, at the Ultimate Challenge Invitationals, it’s going home with one of the eight competitors.
How do I tune into the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - Ultimate Challenge Invitationals?
Great question.

When the event begins on Monday, November 4th at 17:00 CET, you can watch the Invitationals on Ghost Ship Game’s Twitch or Youtube page. The event premiere is already live on Youtube, in case you want to be there the split second the action kicks off.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we’ll see you at the Invitationals.

Hoxxes Halloween 2024 is now live!
Hello Miners,
It's the spooky season.

Sharpen your pickaxes, check your weapons, and put on your most absorbent underwear: Hoxxes Halloween is here, and all its ghastly horrors are now running rampant in the caves.

You can check all the chilling details in the preview post, but here are the highlights:
 • Unlock the new Creeper Wolf Mask and show the bugs who's the real apex predator
 • Collect all previous Halloween cosmetics via the Last Year's Horrors assignment
 • Shoot the screaming skulls in the caves and deposit them for a double mission performance point bonus
 • Enjoy the Halloween decorations aboard the Space Rig and under absolutely no circumstances ask yourself why Management has so much money for candles but still hasn't invested in better equipment

It's all live right this minute! Hoxxes Halloween runs until November 7th at 13:00 CET -- so make sure to get the goods before then.

Have fun, and remember: Employees caught discussing paranormal happenings on company property may be subject to disciplinary exorcisms.

PATCH NOTES - S05.06
Hello Miners,
Due to the amount of feedback we got regarding the Core Stone event, we have tweaked the encounter, overall decreasing the difficulty, especially on higher hazards. We also included a few other fixes.

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew
--- PATCH NOTES —
Crawler Tweaks
- Reduced movement speed by 10%
- Made it so that the corrosive death puddles no longer fly out forward towards the player, but instead drop where the Crawler is killed
- Fixed Crawler armor to work like all other heavy armor in the game

- Changed a bunch of textures, so they will not look bad if they have not loaded fast enough
- Various Audio tweaks
- Added photosensitivity-mode to the Animated Static material, used on startup and info screens

EDIT: Updated version to 106182 to fix a crash

it’s almost time for Hoxxes Halloween 2024!

You heard it here first: the seasonal spook-tacular is coming back! Hoxxes Halloween 2024 kicks off on Thursday, October 24th at 13:00 CET, and it’ll run until Thursday, November 7th. It’s the most terrifying thing to happen to Deep Rock Galactic since that one time a random joined your lobby, ordered a full round of Leaf Lover’s Special, and then left.

Let’s take a ghastly glimpse at the horrors that await you.
Dressed to the (ca)nines
The full moon shines with an ominous glare, its frigid light taking a hostile sheen as it filters through the Space Rig bay window. You feel the hair on your neck stand up, your skin itching with a restless violence. A sharp animal rage flares through your limbs. What is this madness?

Not to worry! It’s simply a harmless side effect of the asbestos fireproofing used in the new Creeper Wolf Mask headgear, which you can unlock during this year’s Halloween event. All you have to do is complete a special assignment, and this completely harmless hat is yours to keep!
Haunting historic fashions
Is this your first Hoxxes Halloween? Have you been too terrified to step foot in the caves during previous years? Not to worry, you’ve got the chance to earn all the Halloween cosmetics from past events. And this year, we’re pretty sure we didn’t forget to include the jack-o-lantern hat! Complete the Last Year’s Horrors assignment, and this creepy clutch of headgear will be yours forever.
Skulls! Shoot 'em!
In a disturbing turn of paranormal events, there seem to be cackling skulls flying around the caves. While alarming on a spiritual level, Management sees a golden business opportunity: These skulls represent a free source of valuable bone meal! Shoot down the skulls and deposit them during your mission, and we’ll reward your team with a double mission performance point bonus.

Please disregard any rumors that these skulls are the restless ghosts of former DRG employees. This is completely unfounded gossip, likely started by labor agitators to disrupt productivity. Remember: shoot first, ask questions never.
Spooky Space Rig
We’re getting the Space Rig all dressed up for Halloween!
We spent a lot of money on it, too. Here’s the budget for the decorations:

Bats $200
Pumpkins $150
Ghosts $800
Candles $3,600
Lights $150

Someone who is good at the economy please help us budget this better next time. Management is pissed

That’s all for now! Remember, Hoxxes Halloween 2024 kicks off on Thursday, October 24th at 13:00.
See you there – if you dare.

With Love,
-The Spooky Ghost Ship Crew

We’re joining some other devs for a big broadcast today!
Hello miners,
Wondering what video to watch while you eat today? We’ve got you covered. In just a few hours, Ghost Ship Games is going live as part of The Spill – a brand new joint developer stream from a bunch of cool game studios across Scandinavia.

We’ll be joining the developers behind Satisfactory, Valheim, Goat Simulator, and plenty others (including a couple Ghost Ship Publishing studios) for a big ‘ol dev talk jamboree. Part hangout, part showcase, all good stuff. The Spill kicks off today (Tuesday, October 8th) at 17:00 CEST.

You can expect things like:
 • Developer Q&As
 • Exciting announcements
 • A goofy segment we suggested as a joke but they let us put it in the program

The Spill will be hosted by Snutt Treptow, Community Manager at Coffee Stain Studios. Here’s Snutt now, to explain what the event’s all about!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
For our part, we’ll be joining with a couple different segments – one talking about Ghost Ship Publishing (and the business of game publishing in general), another talking about our community and weekly streams, and then that silly one we mentioned above. Hehe

Down below is the full schedule (please note all times are in CEST). If you want to see it with times adjusted to your own time zone, you can click right here.

Once again, it all starts today at 17:00 CEST. You can tune in via our own platforms, as we’ll be broadcasting it directly to the Ghost Ship Games Twitch and Youtube channels. And of course, if you can’t catch it live, a recording of the whole thing will be available after.

Hope to see you there!

With love,
-The Ghost Ship Crew

P.S. if the Steam post says the event is live now (even if it's before 17:00 CEST), it's because I forgot to check a box before publishing, to note the correct start time. and now it won't let me change that start time without deleting the whole event, which sounds like a hassle plus it's time for lunch
