Community Crunch 373: Yi Ling Concept Art, Creature Submissions, and More!

Revel in the wonders of Yi Ling's menacing appearance. With its sharp beak and even sharper feathers, it makes us ponder: How will Yi Ling integrate with the eclectic wildlife of Aberration? We are anxious to see how the ARK community and Aberration treat our new arrival on ARK: Survival Ascended.

Let's take a trip down memory lane as we embark on our journey to The Center for our next Community Creature Contest. What will be the fan-voted real-world creature that will launch with the map for ARK: Survival Ascended?

Please note that this creature will be released for The Center, so make sure your real-world submissions are in theme with that map! As previously stated, we’ll add an additional real-world creature for each expansion pack map release on ARK: Survival Ascended.

Check out the Creature Submission Guidelines for more information on the submission process, and hop over to the Creature Submission Forum to see the current entries. We are looking forward to seeing your ideas come to life!

The entry period will end at 1 PM Pacific on August 14th.
The voting will begin immediately after and end on August 21st at 1PM Pacific.

*Note that the proposed features for the creatures from the submission entry are meant to inspire their design, but certain aspects may still be modified.

A single person or entity can only win once.
Posts will no longer merge with similar submissions.

Survivors on all platforms will be receiving an EVO Event! It will be active until Monday, August 7th.

Community Crunch 372: Community Creature Winner, EVO Event, and More!

A mysterious new creature will soon be discovered in the depths of Aberration on ARK: Survival Ascended. It is rumored to be spooky and murderous, much like many of the denizens in the area.

With over 34k votes, Yi Qi will be the new creature added to Aberration for ARK: Survival Ascended. We look forward to sharing its concept and dossier in the coming weeks!

The best Ark servers 2023

What are the best Ark servers to join in 2023? We've scoured the internet looking for the top Ark: Survival Evolved servers and server clusters to cater to all experiences, whether you're looking for some intense competitive PvP, a relaxed PvE sandbox, a place to play Omega or Primal Fear, or even a boosted server like FiberCraft, where you can tame and breed all of Ark's wonderful dinos with minimal investment. We'll also talk about the official servers and what happens when they go offline in August.

Ark: Survival Evolved is one of the best dinosaur games and survival games on PC; its increasingly weird meta-narrative provides an excuse to throw dinosaurs together with other prehistoric and even mythological creatures in several gorgeous sandboxes with robust crafting and survival systems. Whether you want to build a sprawling menagerie for its own sake or lead a dino army against other players, a range of experiences are on offer, and you'll find a range of servers optimized for each of these. Is Ark cross play or cross platform?

Surviving in a post-apocalyptic dinosaur world is more fun with friends, and if you're wondering about Ark cross play and cross platform support, there's good news for you - depending on who you want to play with. Studio Wildcard did implement Ark cross play support, but the way it works for PC players is somewhat restrictive. If you are able to play with your friends, joining a session is a straightforward process, as long as you don't want to host a dedicated server, so you can hop on with your friends in almost no time.

Community Crunch 371: Introducing Gigantoraptor!

Meet the queen of helicopter parenting! She's the mother hen of the prehistoric world, fiercely protecting her little ones with a love that's larger than life. We can't wait to see the community creature vote winner, Gigantoraptor, roaming the vast expanse of Ragnarok!
Speaking of new creatures, there are still a few days left to submit your vote for the next addition to Aberration!

Species: Gigantoraptor nutritor
Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Territorial

Unless you’re planning to raid its nest, you shouldn’t let this creature’s imposing size worry you. Gigantoraptor may be fiercely protective of its brood, but it’s much more of a caregiver than a fighter.

Don’t get me wrong -- this theropod will use its sharp claws and surprising speed to defend its young when threatened. But Gigantoraptor has a soft heart for young ones -- it’ll even take in the orphaned babies of rival species.

Now for the bad news: to my knowledge, no one’s been able to figure out how to tame an adult Gigantoraptor – its unique disposition seems resistant to behavioral conditioning. However, Survivors bolder than me were able to sneak into nests to win the trust of their young, and they claim that reward is well worth the risk.

Once matured to adulthood, your tamed Gigantoraptor will happily look after any of your tribe’s young creatures, nurturing them and teaching them how to fight. It can even use its call to help you find orphaned baby animals out in the wild. If you bring those orphans home, then your Gigantoraptor will happily add them to its brood.

Gigantoraptor forms an inseparable bond with its young charges. Bring them into a fight together and they will defend each other, and your tribe, far more effectively than when apart.

The competition is reaching its boiling point as we near the end of the Community Creature Vote. Soon, we'll know which entry will emerge victorious! You still have the weekend to vote for which creature will be added to Aberration for ARK: Survival Ascended!
The second round of voting ends on July 24th at 4 PM Pacific.

The winner* will be announced in the Crunch Friday, July 28th, 2023.
