Abducted Beta 1.38 is up!

Beta 1.38 is up and it fixes a bunch of things, mostly in the technical department. They are:
  • Updated to Unreal 4.24.1, putting it in sync with the latest Unreal 4 code.
  • Fixed various bugs mostly on the rendering side. Some of this was from updating to the latest Unreal code, and some were longstanding issues in the game that needed to be resolved.
  • Various map layout changes and refinement throughout the game. Sometimes this involves opening paths up or creating new paths to find.

While this doesn't seem like a very long list, there's some good fixes here that needed to go out. So Merry Christmas and stay tuned for more updates! ːsteamhappyː

Abducted Beta 1.37 is up!

Abducted Beta 1.37 is up and has some key improvements:
  • New story bits throughout! You might notice things like the Chapter list working now, Chapters that you haven't reached yet aren't selectable and are grayed out. Although a big item remaining is cinematics, a lot of work has gone into this release to get the existing ones cleaned up and ready for final work.
  • Updated to the latest Unreal 4 code, 4.23.1. This alone fixes a number of issues and performance is improved another notch.
  • Tons of bug fixes everywhere. Fragment tracking should be fixed now, no more lost progress going from chapter to chapter. Save game system is improved. Many issues and bugs fixed under the hood, making for a more stable and faster running game.
  • A complete playthrough of the game is possible, just note that elements of the playthrough are rough or incomplete. However core gameplay is there, and many elements are approaching final.

The game is going to pick up steam here soon (no pun intended) and get finished before you know it. From there a final plan will be worked out on release of the game. As always thanks for playing and supporting, and have fun! ːsteamhappyː

1.36.1 for PC is up, Mac version in progress

Quick update: the 1.36.1 update is up! It fixes some Arm related issues, some bugs and does a bit more cleanup. It's basically a bug fix release and should smooth out a few rough spots.

Now that its done, the Mac build is being updated to match. If all goes well that should be up in the next day or so.

1.36 for PC is up, Mac build coming shortly

It's been a long road to get to 1.36 and the game is nearly complete. Here's what you will notice in this update (in no particular order):

  • The Main Menu has been updated to be leaner and less resource intensive. Simple, straightforward, runs better on lower end systems.
  • Many cinematics are being tuned or reworked to be made final. This continues to be WIP... many months ago I said this would be one of the last things to go in and that's still true.
  • Most Arm topics are present and unlockable. Not every topic is fleshed out, there's more writing to do. Like cinematics, this story element is one of the final tasks to do as well. But it is a focus right now.
  • Performance improvements galore. You should be able to fine tune it to go well beyond 60fps if that's your thing.
  • Per-level specific gameplay improvements. Fixed physics and gameplay elemented on the map "Dissected", fixed up end-of-level triggers with appropriate discoveries and better game logic.
  • Updated to the latest Unreal 4 release code 4.22.3.
  • Tons of bug fixes, the big ones are completely behind the scenes. Various logic bugs, stability issues, lots of things to make the game run better and smoother overall.

I'm working on a 1.36.1 update that will fix up and improve some issues, and once that's done the Mac build will be updated to 1.36.1 as well.

Have fun, enjoy the update!

Major updates to story and dialogue coming this week!

By the end of the week there will be a new major release of Abducted out that finalizes the dialogue, story and conversation elements of the game.

This build will have over 70 topics of conversation you can have with the Arm! As well as discoverables and other elements.

There are bound to be other refinements, but this one is coming in for sure. Rejoice! We are in the endgame now... ːsteamhappyː
