New launch option is now available for Intel 10th gen CPU or newer

Ahoy there!!

You probably didn't expect to see an update for Monstrum 1 in 2023 but it was something we felt we needed to try and address due to newer hardware and more and more players experiencing this unfortunate issue.

Since the 10th generation of Intel i-series processors, there was an error in the calculation of the OpenSSL instructions that has caused older games, not just Monstrum, to look like they crash on start-up.

Now usually these things can be very difficult for a dev studio to fix due to engine upgrades and newer hardware that wasn't available during the original development.

However, we now have a solution for players with newer hardware that runs on the 10th Gen+ and that is a new launch option that pops up when you click 'Play' in your steam library.

Please make sure to select: (Play Monstrum with Intel 10thgen CPU or newer)

This update will not affect other versions of the game or older hardware either so no need to worry about having to update your hardware!!

As always thank you all for the support over the years we are extremely grateful to the community and players who enjoy our games!!

Cheers,

Team Junkfish

Melbits Pod wins the first EuroPlay games competition

Melbits Pod, an interactive virtual pet system that connects with mobile devices, is the first-ever winner of the EuroPlay video game contest. The final round of judging saw games like Junkfish's Monstrum 2, Going Medieval, and The Falconeer competing for the top prize, but in the end it was Spain's Melbot Studios that walked away with the prize.

Melbits Pod isn't available on PC - instead, it's a system that pairs an egg-shaped device with an app on your mobile device. You'll find and incubate special Melbit eggs using the toy, which you'll then hatch and interact with on your phone or tablet. Different kinds of Melbits can be found by taking the egg device to different places in your surroundings - for instance, some Melbits can only be found in cold places, and so placing the device in your refrigerator might be the way to catch one.

Organised by UKIE, the EuroPlay games contest is meant to be a kind of Eurovision for videogames, and the entries showcased some of the top independent development talent in Europe. Monstrum 2 developer Team Junkfish represented the United Kingdom after winning the UK Game of the Show competition earlier this week.

Asymmetric survival-horror fest Monstrum 2 wins UK Game of the Show

Yesterday saw the UK Game of the Show digital event kick off, showcasing a hearty batch of the country's up-and-coming videogames for publishers, investors, and the media to take a peek at. Now, the votes are in, and a winner's been declared. Monstrum 2, developer Team Junkfish's asymmetrical survival-horror title that's kind of like Dead By Daylight, but with prisoners versus "oceanic monstrosities", is the UK Game of the Show.

As announced in a roundup of the event on organiser UKIE's site, of the fifteen upcoming PC games and console titles in the competition, Monstrum 2 emerged victorious. The survival game's asymmetric gameplay pits groups of up to four players against a "terrifying" monster, its Steam description explains, who have to escape a "complex, procedurally generated metal labyrinth" - that is, a "decrepit sea fortress" - which has a layout, puzzles, and obstacles that change each time you play through.

"We couldn't believe it when we heard Monstrum 2 had won the UK Game of the Show competition!," a statement from Junkfish says.
