Get ready to sweat as you tackle seven levels and one hardcore mode! We hope you enjoy it, and while you’re gearing up for those challenging tactical battles, let’s walk you through the ins and outs of Guards II: Prologue.
Gameplay Basics
It's pretty straightforward. You have four heroes and four slots on the battlefield where they start at the beginning of each battle. To attack your enemies, just swap any two heroes!

Remember, only three heroes on the front line will fight. The hero in the back row rests and recovers health.
Ultimate Ability
Each hero has two types of attacks: a basic attack and a super attack. When you move a resting hero from the back row to the front row, they will unleash their super ability.

Here’s what each hero does:
 • The Wizard strikes a powerful blow and stuns the first enemy in line.
 • The Warrior Princess throws their shield at the first enemy and gains protection for several turns.
 • The Demon Hunter unleashes a barrage of crossbow bolts, hitting all enemies in their line.
 • The Alchemist heals the hero with the lowest health.
Speaking of Health
Keep an eye on the health bar next to your characters and their health points. When it gets critically low, the bar starts to blink.

If one of your heroes falls in battle, you’ll lose the game. You can recover a hero’s health by:
 • Moving them to the back row.
 • Using the Alchemist’s Ultimate Ability.
 • Using a healing potion. More on that lower!
Attack Types and Resistance
All heroes and enemies in the game have one of four attack types: Physical, Fire, Magic, and Death. Each unit is resilient and vulnerable to certain types of attacks.

Before the battle, study your enemies' stats and use the hero whose attack type the enemy is most vulnerable to. It makes perfect sense, but in the heat of battle, it’s easy to forget!
Using Items
From time to time, you’ll have a few items available to use before or during battle.

Note that boost potions can only be used before a level starts. Don't forget this; strengthening one of your heroes can be a game-changer during the fight.
Hero Upgrades
In the prologue, you'll have access to two hero upgrade systems. Be sure to utilize both, or advancing through levels will be much tougher!

You’ll find a talent tree where upgrades are purchased with crystals.

And temporary boosts between rounds bought with demonic essence. These are limited resources, so be strategic and enhance the hero who will be most beneficial in the next round.

We hope this simple guide helps you navigate the game more easily and maximize your enjoyment!

Greetings!

We’re excited to continue sharing more about the game Guards II: Chaos in Hell. If you haven’t read our previous post about the gameplay features, feel free to check it out now. In the meantime, let’s introduce you to the first heroes of this thrilling story.

At the beginning of the game, your squad of adventurers will consist of four heroes, each with their own unique traits and ultimate abilities. The ultimate ability is activated when a hero moves from the back row to the front line.
Wizard
A classic mage in a long robe, holding a spellbook. He wields magical attacks and confidently hurls spells at his enemies. His ultimate ability deals damage to the first enemy in line and stuns them for one turn.
Demon Hunter
A dark, mysterious figure with a hat pulled low over his eyes. It’s best not to cross his path, especially in a dark alley. Pss, buddy, would you like some holy water?
Attack type: physical. Beware of his crossbow with sharp arrows.
Ultimate ability: unleashes a powerful barrage of arrows, dealing damage to all enemies in line.
Warrior Princess
A brave red-haired beauty clad in armor and a leather mini skirt. Armed with a shield, sword, and mace, she’s incredibly dangerous—especially in close combat.
Attack type: physical. Enemies’ skulls shatter into pieces under her relentless strikes.
Ultimate ability: throws her shield at the first enemy in line, dealing damage and gaining a barrier equal to 50% of the damage dealt.
Alchemist
A bearded fellow with a backpack full of magical trinkets.
Attack type: fire. He throws “Molotov cocktails” at enemies, and if leveled up, he can ignite the ground beneath opponents, causing them to take damage over time.
Ultimate ability: heals the hero with the lowest health.

Each hero has a vast nonlinear upgrade tree, allowing you to choose which skills and abilities to develop first.

By the way, a free prologue will be released soon, where you can get a feel for the game and get to know the heroes better. So be sure to add Guards II: Chaos in Hell to your Wishlist, follow the game’s page, and join our Discord to stay updated with the latest news!

Gameplay Simplicity of Guards II: Devil in Details

Greetings!

We are starting a series of posts about the game Guards II: Chaos in Hell. Subscribe to the Steam page so you won’t miss the latest articles. You will need them because very soon you will have a chance to try your luck in this devilish meat grinder!

In the meantime, we’ll tell you about the gameplay features of Guards II: Chaos in Hell and a little bit about the characters you’ll be playing as.
Gameplay
Guards II: Chaos in Hell is a turn-based tactical game, so both you and your enemies take turns.

There are four heroes in your arsenal, each with their own unique qualities: attack type, method of performing a regular attack, resistance, and ultimate ability. To make a move, you must swap any two heroes.

Note that three heroes are on the front line attacking enemies, while the fourth stands on the back square and restores health.

It seems simple, but you'll have to really fight for every victory. It requires a lot of thinking and planning ahead.

All heroes and enemies in the game have one of four attack types: Physical, Fire, Magic, and Death. Each unit may be resistant to one of the attack types but vulnerable to the others.

The art of selecting the most effective combination of attack types and exploiting enemy defenses is a fundamental strategic component of the game.
Using Ultimate Abilities
When a hero moves from the back square forward, they unleash a super power. For example, the Alchemist can heal one of his allies with a recovery potion, the Monster Hunter can damage all enemies in the line and weaken them, and the Warrior can throw a shield and protect herself for several turns.

You can achieve victory by intelligently choosing your team's composition and order of strikes.
Upgrades and Skills
Every hero now has a unique tech tree with over 30 upgrades, each comprising 2 to 3 levels. You decide which skills to learn first.

Between levels, you have access to temporary hero upgrades. To upgrade your hero, you will need Demonic Essence, which is awarded as a reward for winning. This resource is limited, so you need to think carefully about which hero to upgrade to ensure victory in the next stage.

We have also added an expanded skill system. There are seven different skills available, which further expand your tactical options and allow you to create your own individual style of play.

For example, at the beginning of each level, the hero can receive a Guard Spirit that boosts all resistances.

In the next posts, we'll talk more about the characters, enemies, and other features of the game.
