Patch Notes 0.5 "Lady Luck's Survival"

Hello, fellow mercenaries!
As always, thanks for playing our game!
I'm Graham, the programmer for Capybara Forge, and I get the privilege to tell you about this new update. Sorry that this update took too long. It was solely because of me :(
Today I will be talking about the new additions for this upcoming update such as the new mode, index, new weapon/armor/item, balances, and key bindings!
Let's get to it right now!



[h2]1) New Mode - Survival[/h2]
- In Survival Mode, you will have to survive as long as possible until you die or when the timer runs out. You can gain more time such as by killing mobs and completing objectives!
Your mercenary will be at a fixed rank depending on the difficulty.
Normal: Rank 5 | Hard: Rank 10
Survival Mode will be already unlocked but we recommend you to at least play through Standard Mode mode first.



[h3]Survival Mode (Mechanics)[/h3]
Mechanics vary compared to Standard Mode as completing the main objective will immediately spawn the Final Boss; where as in Standard Mode, the door to the Subspace opens.



Not only this but, you will be able to proceed to the next stage after beating the Final Boss and leaving the Subspace! As there are only 2 stages, you will loop back to the the first stage after beating the second.

There will also be new mechanics unique to Survival Mode!
[h3]- Perks[/h3]
Perks can be purchased with Kredits that give you a further edge in battle. 3 random perks will be available every stage. Interact with the book at the Subspace Bar to have a look!





[h3]- Weapon Upgrades[/h3]
Your overdriven weapons can be further enhanced by using the anvil on the bottom left of Subspace. Remember that you must overdrive a weapon first in order to upgrade them.





[h3]- Mutations[/h3]
Every time you enter a stage a new mutation appears! They will stay indefinitely every run and more will come to increase the difficulty of a Survival run.
When getting an existing mutation it will further increase the effect of that mutation too!



To look at the active Perks and Mutations, you can look at them in the Pause Menu under the "Perks, Mutations" Button.





[h3]- Leaderboard[/h3]
Compete against yourself or globally! Your Survival runs get stored on the Personal and Global Leaderboards if you get a high score!
It will save your Steam username, score, time, mercenary, and the overdriven skill if any!




That's all we have to talk about for Survival Mode.
We will be tweaking/adding more Perks and Mutations as we keep on updating the game so hopefully you will be able to enjoy this mode every update.
Also, when a new stage comes out, we will be adding that stage to Survival Mode as well.




[h2]2) New Mercenary - Gambler[/h2]
Gambler, the crazed, gambling eccentric joins the guild!
Her playstyle depends on luck but she has the utility to defend herself if she needs it!



[h3]Fated Die (Auto Atttack)[/h3]
- Level 1 Description:
-- Throws a die.
-- Damage: 1 - 6 (Fixed)
-- Different effects can occur depending on damage.
-- On crit, throw 2 dice.





[h3]Royal Draw (Active)[/h3]
- Level 1 Description:
-- Throws a random card. Inflicts a random effect depending on card drawn.





[h3]Adrenaline (Passive 1)[/h3]
-- Level 1 Description:
--- MVT SPD: +20% for 5s (when Auto Attack crits)



[h3]Karma (Passive 2)[/h3]
- Level 1 Description:
-- When Gambler gets hit, drop dice around her.
-- CD: 30s





[h3]Roulette of Fortune (Ultimate)[/h3]
- Level 1 Description:
-- Gambler bets on a color by activating the Ultimate again in which a giant roulette crashes down.
-- If bet is won, activate the certain effect corresponding to the color.
-- Red = ATK: +20% & DEF: +5% (30s) Black = Explosion (Damage: 300%)




Gambler was the one of the first mercenaries that I designed but due to her complexity we held it back until this update lol.
We hope you will like the new mercenary as much as we enjoyed making her!
Also as a side note: Her theme song is really cool too once you get to it!




[h2]3) New Weapon, Armor, & Item[/h2]
We added 1 new weapon, 1 armor, and 1 item that goes along with the theme of Gambler!



[h3]Strange Wanderer (Weapon)[/h3]
- Level 1 Description:
-- Shoot an ordinary bullet.
-- Damage: 100%
-- Chance to summon the Strange Wanderer (5%)




[h3]Jackpot Machine (Armor)[/h3]
- Level 1 Description:
-- When hit, a slot machine falls down from above and knocks enemies back.
-- Will either roll Kredits, Power Ups, or Food.
-- Damage: 100 (Fixed)



[h3]Coin Launcher (Item)[/h3]
- Use Kredits as ammo to shoot.
- The amount of Kredits use will range from 10 to 1250.
- Damage: 150 (Fixed)







[h2]4) Achievements[/h2]
We added 8 new achievements! Some of the rewards unlock the new additions to this update.


[h3]More Power:[/h3]
- Upgrade an Overdriven Weapon for the first time in Survival Mode.
-- Reward: Strange Wanderer (Weapon)



[h3]First Drink:[/h3]
- Buy a Perk for the first time in Survival Mode.
-- Reward: Jackpot Machine (Armor)



[h3]Survive 1:[/h3]
- Survive for 10 minutes in Survival Mode.
-- Reward: 500 CC


[h3]Survive 2:[/h3]
- Survive for 20 minutes in Survival Mode.
-- Reward: Coin Launcher (Item)



[h3]Survive 3:[/h3]
- Survive for 30 minutes in Survival Mode.
-- Reward: 1000 CC



[h3]Lucky Day?:[/h3]
- Unlock “Strange Wanderer”, “Jackpot Machine”, and “Coin Launcher.”
-- Reward: Gambler (Mercenary)



[h3]2K Gambler:[/h3]
- Defeat 2000 enemies with Gambler.
-- Reward: 500 CC



[h3]Gambler Clear:[/h3]
- Clear 1 mission with Gambler.
-- Reward: 500 CC

We added these achievements as an incentive to play this new mode. These achievements should already be shown in the Steam achievements.




[h2]5) Index[/h2]
We finally implemented the Index!
Here you can view the Mercenaries, Weapons, and more that you have unlocked. An overdriven version of a weapon can also be viewed only if you have overdriven it once.
Mobs that have been defeated can also be view here too.

We increased the Stats of all Mercenaries when they rank up to give them a better feel that they are stronger than before.
The numbers below represent the corresponding stat for each rank. The max rank is 10 and each mercenary starts at rank 0.

CC Gain on Normal: Total Score * 2 -> Total Score * 2.5
CC Gain on Hard: Total Score * 2.5 -> Total Score * 4




[h2]7) Key Bindings[/h2]
I added the functionality of key bindings for Keyboard and Gamepad!
Here you can change bindings such using items, actives, ultimate, etc.
The controls template will also be updated based on your configurations.





[h2]8) Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed a sound issue with Mecha-Merlin's Purple Crystal.
  • Fixed a few Japanese translation mistakes.
  • Fixed an issue where the Thief side objective would not spawn properly.
