Some of the best Resident Evil games are 75% off, for a weird reason

When the Resident Evil 4 Remake came out last year, it enjoyed pretty much the same level of success as the original all those years ago. If you still haven't had a chance to play it, it's currently available at a 25% discount at Humble Bundle, and many of the other games in the series are up to 75% off - but the reason for the discount is kind of bizarre.

Resident Evil 4 Remake just became the hardest horror game ever

The original Resident Evil 4 is one of the best videogames ever made. Excelling at both tense action set pieces and a consistently entertaining horror comedy tone, the 2005 game is a standout in creator Capcom's body of work - which means a lot from the studio and publisher responsible for Dragon's Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Rise, Resident Evil 2, and so much more. Last year's Resident Evil 4 Remake may not reach quite the same lofty heights as the original, but it's also a good game on its own merits, especially with regards to its redesigned gunplay. Now, thanks to a randomization mod called Biorand 4, fans of its approach to survival horror fights can explore the game's systems even further, turning RE4 Remake into a brutally difficult experience.

Capcom told Leon's actor to "forget everything" for Resident Evil 4

There are a few characters that are just built different. For me, it's World of Warcraft's Sylvanas Windrunner, or Dragon Age's Morrigan - perhaps even add Uncharted's Nathan Drake to the list. But my roster is relatively obscure, based around the games I played (and was allowed to play) as a child. While I loved all things gory, my mom wasn't as keen, meaning things like Silent Hill and Resident Evil weren't exactly accessible to me. If they had been, though, I know that Capcom's horror series would have quickly become a favorite, and Leon Kennedy would have defined my childhood as much as the Witch of the Wilds or the Banshee Queen.

Resident Evil just got proper ray tracing, and it looks amazing

Gorgeous as the RE Engine may be, its support for ray tracing leaves much to be desired, as keenly highlighted in recent Resident Evil remakes. Thankfully, those searching for improved ray traced effects are in luck as modders are finally doing the series justice with proper ray tracing rendering that Capcom had hidden away. Better still, Dragon's Dogma 2 players stand to benefit too.

Japan's Golden Week holiday is here, and with it comes a variety of sales from Japanese publishers on Steam. Capcom, known for series such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, Mega Man and many others, is absolutely the publisher to look out for in this sale, as almost its entire recent catalogue of releases have had their prices slashed down.
