Yacht Club Games held a special 10th anniversary stream for Shovel Knight this week, revealing a brand new edition of the modern classic.

Sometimes you see something like "Shovel Knight is 10 years old" and it makes you instantly turn to dust, but even if that is the case, you just have to ignore it and move on. Or, well, don't completely ignore it, as during the NES throwback game's 10th anniversary livestream, Yacht Club Games revealed Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX, a "definitive edition" version "of the adventure that started it all." This new version of the game has a whole bunch of new features, with the biggest being the addition of online multiplayer.

"For the first time, use the power of Rewind to perfect your platforming skills or use Save States to pause and plan your next moves," Yacht Club explains. "With over 300 classic gameplay-twisting cheats, customise your experience to make it as challenging or as weird as you like. All these cheats can now be enabled simultaneously, offering endless ways to remix your adventure. Simply put, this is the definitive edition of Shovel of Hope. It's also our way of preserving the game's historical functionality, ensuring these elements remain available for future generations of players. And with the new multiplayer features and other enhancements, we hope it includes everything on your wish list."

Calling all puzzlers, shovel-warriors, & card connoisseurs! To celebrate the anniversaries of: Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon (December 13th, 2021), Shovel Knight: King of Cards (December 10th, 2019), and Shovel Knight Showdown (December 10th, 2019), we are hosting some friendly in-game matches with the Yacht Club Games crew!

You will need a Steam account, a computer capable of running Remote Play Together, a solid internet connection, and your choice of peripheral (controller, keyboard, etc.)! You will also need to join our Discord server! We’ll have a special event channel lobby for players.

Q: Do I need to own the game?

Since we are hosting with Steam Remote Play Together, you do not need to own a copy of the game.

Q: How do I access my Steam Friend Code?

In your Steam client, hover your mouse over your screen name (located in the navigation bar). Select the "Friends" option in the pull-down tab. This will bring you to your friend page! Select "Add a Friend". On this page, you will see your 10 digit Friend Code.

Q: How do I know if I’ve been selected to play?

On the day of the event, all entrants will receive access to a Discord channel called "Play With the Devs Lobby". Please post in #check-in to confirm your attendance!

If you are chosen to battle with us, then we'll @ you in the #check-in channel and send over a friend request on Steam to start our Remote Play session.

Q: How long will the event last?

2 hours in total!

• Pocket Dungeon matches will begin at 12 PM PST
  
• Showdown / Joustus matches will begin at 1 PM PST
  
• The event will officially conclude at 2 PM PST (so we can eat lunch!)

Fantasy roguelike Dead Cells is being invaded by indies again. Weapons and outfits from six games are making their way into the game with today's free Everone Is Here 2 update: Terraria, Hotline Miami, Shovel Knight, Slay The Spire, Risk Of Rain 2, and Katana Zero. There’s also new lore rooms based on locations from these games, which is where you’ll find the weapons stored. You can watch some of the costumes and weapons in action in the trailer below.
