Primal Fray Devlog #06 – Multiplayer Mode

Hello, Sky Adventurers!

In today’s devlog, let’s talk about the game's PvP mode and how you can ruin your friendships challenge your friends to a duel!

Primal Fray features a Versus mode, where you can fight another player in a hot seat match not unlike the Worms series, for example.

First, build a map by "painting" over the hex grid or select one of the predefined battlefields. You can change the desired biome, too.

Also, if you decide to have a gaping hole instead of a lake in the middle of the map, you can delete hexes.

Next, draft your Primal team. Select how many Primals you'd like from different tiers, then create your dream team...

...and that's it! All that remains is to place Primals on the map, and may the best player win! It's like chess, except with monsters (and therefore way cooler).

Versus mode is a great way to test your skills and spend time with your friend. Plus, you can create and test your strategies on the best player in the world – yourself!

That’s all for today’s devlog! Share your thoughts below—I’d love to hear them. Thank you for reading, and I’ll see you in a couple of weeks!

Cheers!

PS Wishing you a happy new year and lots of great games to play!

Primal Fray Devlog #05 – Top Tier Primals

Hello, Sky Adventurers!

In today’s devlog, let’s talk about the most powerful Primals in the game: Tier III Primals.

If you survive long enough during the Elemental Run, you’ll encounter some of the most useful (and dangerous) Primals in the game.

Here are just a few of them:

This fiery lord delivers MASSIVE ranged AoE damage. Just look at the GIF below, where it effortlessly disposes of three enemies! A devastating ability—though you might wonder, how will you survive if you face Stigor in battle...?

This Primal is a master of ambush tactics, making it an excellent choice for paired attacks. It can teleport behind you and zap you with its deadly laser gaze. Facing Lumor alone is unwise—teams of two or three Primals stand a better chance.

This flying, frog-like demon wields powerful arcane storms that can vaporize enemies in its range. Whether as an ally or an opponent, Magurana is a force to be reckoned with.

This desert lion excels in close combat with rapid, relentless attacks. It can even take down shielded Primals and shove them off the map! When battling Leo, keep your Primals far from cliffs—you’ve been warned.

This icy serpent freezes every hex it moves across and boasts a powerful shielding ability that protects all units nearby. And its tail? You definitely don’t want to be in its range when Serpia strikes.

It feels great to have these mighty Primals on your side, but can you endure their attacks if they turn against you? There’s only one way to find out!

That’s all for today’s devlog! Share your thoughts below—I’d love to hear them. Thank you for reading, and I’ll see you in a couple of weeks!

Cheers!

Primal Fray Devlog #04 – Overcharge Mode

Hello, Sky Adventurers!

In today's devlog, let's discuss Overcharge Mode – a challenging game mode that becomes available after you finish the Elemental run.

Sooner or later, you'll reach the end of the Elemental Run. But even then, the game won't be over! Completing the run unlocks Overcharge Mode, a special mode where you can adjust the difficulty settings of various aspects of the run.

You can adjust the following settings:
  • Frenzied Enemies – enemies deal more damage
  • Sturdy Enemies – enemies have more health
  • Big and Healthy – bosses have more health
  • General's Call – boss fights involve additional enemies
  • Downgrade – some of your base upgrades are disabled
  • ...and much more!

Just to give you an example, I started a run with some of those settings: bosses with extra HP, enemies dealing more damage, and enemies spawning at a higher tier.

The start was manageable, though the enhanced enemies gave me some trouble. I managed to scrape my way to the boss, and even then, things didn't seem too bad...

...Until Inferia wiped 3 Primals off the map in a single attack.

Overcharge Mode allows you to tinker with almost all aspects of gameplay, pushing your skills to the limit even more than the base run. Every single move counts, and mastering this mode is incredibly satisfying.

That's it for today's devlog! Let me know what you think below. Thank you for reading and see you in a couple of weeks!

Cheers!
