Updated Demo for TurnBasedThursday Fest

Hey friends,
Breachway is taking part in the TurnBasedThursday Fest, and to mark the occasion we have updated our demo build!

This update is decently sized as far as updates go, and while we don't have a comprehensive change list (the game is in constant flux with small things changing daily) , you can read the main things we added below:

  • A revamped save and load system, allowing you to quit and continue mid-fight without losing any progress
  • 100+ new card art images to replace our placeholders.
  • 2 New enemy ship models for early game Solarii and Starkin enemies.
  • A new set of 5 early game enemies, including a new elite.
  • A set of 12 stronger enemies that can appear if you hang around the map long enough before going to the boss.
  • Added the ability to buy fuel in space stations.
  • Added a way to fast forward through events, by holding the right mouse button down.
  • Added a new set of subsystems for you to discover.
  • Added a system that gives each elite a buff selected out of a random set, this makes elite encounters play out slightly differently, and also gives you a higher credit reward when defeating them.
  • Faction relations now matter for Free-roamer, Solarii and Starkin elite encounters (will add Deadweights soon, we're preparing something special for that).
  • A slew of new equipment and cards, including a Mass Driver and a Coil Gun.
  • Fixed a few instances where an event would cause a soft lock, leading you to quit to the menu and return to the run.
  • A lot of bug fixes for cards and events.
  • many more changes I'm forgetting right now :)

We also added some stat tracking to the demo to help us spot problems and help balance the game. It is completely optional and anonymized, and opting out does not affect the game in any way.

Have a great weekend and keep on playing turn-based games!

One of 2024's most wanted new roguelikes has just been delayed

When Breachway first pinged on our galaxy-spanning radar, it grabbed our attention thanks to a promising blend of Slay the Spire style deckbuilding systems, Into the Breach inspired combat, and a spaceship building and management focus that draws on everything from FTL to No Man's Sky and Starfield. Unfortunately, though the game was originally set to launch in Early Access later this month, it's now going to be a little while longer before its creators at Edgeflow Studios are ready to initialize take-off.

Early Access Launch Delay

Hi,

We want to let you know that we've decided to delay the early access launch of Breachway until July of this year.

It's not something we've done lightly, but in the end we really want to deliver the best experience possible, even with an early access release.

We want to thank everyone for the amazing reception we've received during Next Fest, it totally blew us away, and really motivated us to deliver on the potential the game has.

Rushing into early access with a less than stable build did not seem like the way to do it, and would not be fair to anyone buying our game.

We know the delay will disappoint some of you, but it will allow us to have enough time to properly digest and integrate your feedback, and add all of the features and content we've planned for the early access release.

The months leading up to our Next Fest demo have been intense, so we want to slow down a bit, get back into a regular work schedule, take the necessary time to address some design issues we noticed during the demo, explore some cool ideas that were suggested, and release something we can be proud of.

We received excellent feedback from Steam Next Fest and are really proud to be one of the top 50 demos from the event (which featured over 1,000 games!). We'll keep the demo online from now until launch, and periodically update it with any new features and quality of life changes that are relevant to the part of the game that is available in the demo.

In fact, we are going to have a stability and quality of life update for the demo very soon, so stay tuned for that!

Again, thank you to everyone for supporting and wishlisting the game, it was more than we could have ever dared imagine, and it really means a lot to us.

Victor
