Next Fest Demo - Tips & Tricks

Hi friends,

We hope you have enjoyed your time with the Breachway Demo so far during Steam Next Fest. We’ve seen many of you take to the stars, and we wanted to provide some intel we’ve recovered from a wrecked pirate ship deep in space to help you survive your next run.

New players should try the Arbalest first, as its targeting systems will give you the precision to shut down enemy attacks and delay their defenses, giving you plenty of openings to unload your entire salvo of ordnance cards to deal maximum damage.

Second, you must increase your reactor power early. You can upgrade this by earning at least 125 credits from taking down enemy ships, encountering special events, or selling extra equipment you discover along your journey. This will let you increase the resources you get every turn, giving you more opportunities to use your cards.

Third, saving up your cards a turn or two can mean the difference between a normal attack and a devastating combo. Sequencing your cards to power up your attacks – or defenses – can give you the edge to survive in space. Pulse Lasers and Flak Cannons have cards that grant you additional firepower when unleashing two or more cards in sequence.

Fourth, you can equip more cards in your hand by adding crew members to your equipment. This gives you more options each turn, and it will also help you set up your combos much sooner to take advantage of openings an enemy ship will eventually leave.

Lastly, timing is everything. Keep track of your opponent’s equipment and what’s charging up and what's ready to deploy. There will be opportunities to attack or shield up, depending on what’s coming next. This will keep damage to a minimum while also giving you the openings to attack when shields are down or charging.

Good luck out there, Space Cowboy.
