Prince of Suburbia - Part 1 News

Prince of Suburbia: June 23rd, 2025 Dev Log

[p][/p][p]Hey everyone. Thank you for your continued patience! We're making good progress and wanted to update you.[/p][p][/p]
Prince of Suburbia Re-Impregnation "Knock Me Up Again!" DLC
[p]Based on the poll in the previous post, we WILL be sticking with the original style, NOT the new one. I hope that relieves many of you that might have been concerned about it.

Our artist, auxiliaryout, is still working at a blazing speed when it comes to creating art for our brand new upcoming content, the Prince of Suburbia "Knock Me Up Again!" DLC. We're working as quickly as we can to develop this DLC.[/p][p]We're getting much closer to being able to release a mini-release in the near future which will contain 5 currently planned sex scenes for it. This will hopefully allow us to get feedback from our biggest fans and supporters to help guide the rest of development for the DLC. Once all of the art is completed for the mini-release we'll be able to give you a time estimate for when we will have the release.[/p][p]We really think you're going to like what you see. When we put out the mini-release, it will be English only. Other languages will be available when we complete the DLC and put it on Steam and Itch.[/p][p]If you're interested in this DLC, please check out our store page up on Steam and if it looks appealing to you, we'd love it if you would wishlist it by clicking HERE! It would help us a lot and we'll be eternally grateful![/p][p]Here's a little teaser for the Naomi scene in the mini-release:

Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC
[p]The past couple of years have been challenging for us. We've had quite a few bumps in the road that have done their best to take us down but we're resilient and we keep getting back up. All that being said, we have good news here. We were able to mend things with vesperanoita and are on the same page. We both want to complete what we started for this Pregnancy DLC.[/p][p]Not only did it feel good to mend things with vesperanoita but the other benefit is we don't have to redo any Pregnancy DLC art that she already completed for us. That art progress going forward will more than likely still move fairly slow as the artist has a lot on her plate. However, we're feeling good about being able to develop this DLC slowly but surely. We will likely still do a mini-release for this one too, so stay tuned.[/p][p]Here's a little teaser for the Sonia scene. Please keep in mind this is not auxiliaryout's art style, this is vesperanoita's:
[/p][p][/p]
A Shot in the Dark Development
[p]We have some news to share for A Shot in the Dark. We're not going to make any promises or guarantees (not that we could anyways) but we may have a potential solution for the game development to make progress again. However, we really won't know with certainty until the end of the year or early next year if it will be possible. More details will be released at that point if we have the answer we're hoping for.[/p][p]I'm sorry we don't have more details we can share at the moment. But, we wanted to let you know that something is potentially in the works.

If you missed why this is currently going on with A Shot in the Dark please check out an earlier post below.[/p][p]https://www.patreon.com/posts/january-30th-dev-120902569

As a reminder, Chapter 4 is the halfway point of the story. After deliberation we decided it will be called Part 1. We're in the middle of testing the translation work we already completed for it. The game's new development will continue to remain paused/on hold for the time being. If you're only an A Shot in the Dark fan then please check back at the end of the year or early next year.[/p]

Prince of Suburbia: April 24th, 2025 Dev Log

Hey everyone. Thank you for your patience! We'll kick things off with the best news first!
Prince of Suburbia Re-Impregnation "Knock Me Up Again!" DLC
Based on the poll in the previous post, we WILL be sticking with the original style, NOT the new one. I hope that relieves many of you that might have been concerned about it.

Our artist, auxiliaryout, has been on an absolute tear when it comes to creating art for our brand new upcoming DLC, the Prince of Suburbia "Knock Me Up Again!" DLC. We're working as quickly as we can to develop this DLC. The setting we decided on for the DLC is our lovely harem vacationing at an exotic oasis in the desert with pyramids not far away. Will they have a relaxing vacation or will trouble find them?

We're excited to announce we have our store page up on Steam (as you can also see in the graphic above) and if it looks appealing to you, we'd love it if you would wishlist it! We plan on having at least one mini-release on Patreon/SubscribeStar for this DLC in the near future as we develop it so that you can check it out as we go and let us know what you think!

Please enjoy the screenshots showing off some of the new outfits for the vacation and post-pregnancy bodies. Check out the store page to see the rest of your favorite harem!
Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC
Unfortunately, not much progress has been made on the Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC since the last actual progress for it was announced. We were close to having a mini-release for it but we had multiple delays with art production which plagued development progress for the Pregnancy DLC. We ended up parting ways with vesperanoita and wish her the best.

We have a new artist already working for us that will be taking on the effort. We'll share more with you as we progress with development.
A Shot in the Dark Development
Being honest, we're still not sure when we'll be able to get back to ASitD development and we don't want anyone to have any high hopes that will change anytime soon given our current circumstances. If you missed why this is currently going on with A Shot in the Dark please check out an earlier post below.

Chapter 4 is the halfway point of the story. After deliberation we have decided we'll probably call it Part 1, Season 1, or something to that effect as it remains paused. We have translation work we already completed for it so we'll do our best to implement that too for fans that have been waiting for the other languages. The game's development will continue to remain paused/on hold.

Prince of Suburbia: Art Style Poll for Re-Impregnation DLC

EDIT: The fans have spoken! We will be sticking with the OLD Semi-Realistic art style. Thank you for taking the time to comment and voting!

We would like your feedback on whether or not we should use a NEW Cell Shading style for the Prince of Suburbia Re-Impregnation DLC.

If you didn't already know, Auxiliaryout is back and will be working on the Prince of Suburbia Re-Impregnation DLC. We're thinking about using auxiliaryout's New Cell Shading style (like he has been using for his game, Her Last Piece).

Below is a comparison for Catherine. The NEW Cell Shading style is on the left (post-pregnancy) and the OLD Semi-Realistic style is on the right (pre-pregnancy).

NOTE: The "thicker" post-pregnancy look will be applied to characters for the OLD Semi-Realistic style sprites if we keep it too. It's not exclusive to the new style.

Pros:

 • Faster than the style currently used in the main story of PoS
 • Doesn't require as much time to ramp back up on the original style that was used which would delay the DLC development
 • It's novel and more fun for us. This is a style that we hope/plan to use for future 2D games as well so it would be nice to keep on with it

Neutral:

 • Style has already changed with the Pregnancy DLC so things will be a little different regardless for the remaining DLC

Cons:

 • Lack of 100% consistency from the main story art

Please let us know with voting on this POLL: (STRAW POLL HERE)

and in the comments if you like the NEW Cell Shading style or would rather keep the OLD Semi-Realistic style for the Prince of Suburbia Re-Impregnation DLC.

Prince of Suburbia: Guess Who's Back?! March 3rd, 2025 Dev Log

Hey everyone. We have some BIG news! Auxiliaryout has made a glorious return to ViM Studios!!! Please enjoy this special illustration with Catherine, Sarah, and the MC, courtesy of auxiliaryout. You can find all versions of this illustration (including 4k with and without the logo) in this link (CLICK ME):

What does this mean for our game development plans going forward? Let's get right into it.
Prince of Suburbia Re-Impregnation DLC
We're thrilled to announce that auxiliaryout will be heading the art and animation effort on the Prince of Suburbia Re-impregnation DLC! We're more than happy to have auxiliaryout back to help us send the game off one last time. His art and animations are as amazing as they ever were. He's told us he's ready to burn rubber on creating the art for the game!
Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC
Progress is still being made for the Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC. Art production has been slower than we initially anticipated but it's still chugging along! There are four art tickets in progress. Three of which are needed before we can fully prepare our first small mini-release.
A Shot in the Dark Development
If you missed what's currently going on with A Shot in the Dark please check out the previous post HERE. We don't have any further news on its development as of right now.

What else is planned?

We discussed the future with auxiliaryout and we mutually agreed that the plan is we would like to continue working on new games together after the completion of the Prince of Suburbia efforts. We have no idea what future games will be but we know that they'll be 2D and that we're sure they will be great!

Lastly, before we knew auxiliaryout was coming back we had also already started planning a railroad/kinetic 2D monster girl visual novel. We're currently in the process of selecting an artist that would fit what we're looking for and pretty much have the rest of the development team filled out already. You'll hear more details on that from us in the near future.
Team Member Games
As we close with this dev log, we wanted to let you all know that some of our team members (previous and current) have released their own games! If you like what you see, let them know!

Prince of Suburbia: January 30th, 2025 Dev Log

Hey everyone! First off, we apologize for neglecting to communicate more frequently on the other platforms like Steam and Itch over the past several months. We hope this update clears up questions that many of you have been asking. The below contains news about our other game, A Shot in the Dark, which will impact Prince of Suburbia and other 2D game development. The impact will be more focus on 2D game efforts for the short term future (not just Prince of Suburbia).

A Shot in the Dark Development

We wanted to wait and see how things were going to be on our end before communicating exactly what was going on with A Shot in the Dark. Now we have a pretty good idea as to what at least the short term future is going to be like for us and feel like we can communicate it to our fans.

If you didn't already know, we have a kiddo. Over the past year and some our kid has been dealing with some major health issues. It reached the point a where we had to pull them out of school for the foreseeable future. All in all, the recovery process has been a lot more extensive than we originally anticipated. Josselyn has been taking on the task of homeschooling and supporting their recovery, but that means her availability to work on the business has been and still is extremely limited.

With Josselyn being the 3D render artist and the writer for A Shot in the Dark it should be clear as to why development on the game has slowed considerably. This means that TheOmega is focused on Prince of Suburbia right now and 2D projects in general until we're able to get back into the swing of things with A Shot in the Dark at some point in the future. Josselyn will have more time available to work on A Shot in the Dark as our kiddo continues to recover and is able to do more things independently, but we can't give definitive time estimates on that right now.

If you're an A Shot in the Dark fan we suggest you refrain from pledging further until we are developing the game on a more regular basis again. We do intend on finishing the game, but it's going to take longer than anticipated to get to that point which isn't ideal for anyone. We hope this transparency helps provide some insight as to the state of things right now and why we didn't feel comfortable sharing our situation until we were more certain of what the future looked like. All that being said, having to contend with these things over the past year has been very stressful for our entire family. It's taken quite a toll on all of us. We understand everyone's frustration. We'd be frustrated, too. Thank you everyone for your continued patience as we navigate this difficult time.

Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC

The holidays slowed down the pace of work on the Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC as our artists and animators took time off to celebrate with their families. The holiday season is normally like this for a lot of game studios so that's not really surprising.

As mentioned before, the art and animations are and always have been the most time-consuming aspect of developing 2D games and continue to be. Once we have the art ready for the first mini-release of the Prince of Suburbia Pregnancy DLC we will release a beta version of it on Patreon and SubscribeStar not long after.
