[hr][/hr][h3]Clanfolk Progress Update: New Features on the Testing Branch[/h3]
Hello, Clanfolk community!

We’ve been hard at work since Update 15, and there’s a lot to share about the latest additions and changes available on the Testing Branch. After further tuning and polishing, these features will roll out to the Default Branch with Update 16.

For now, here’s some of what’s new in the open beta:
[hr][/hr][h3]New Features and Gameplay Changes[/h3]

Flooding Mechanics


  • Flood Plains now bring both risks and rewards: higher fertility for faster crop growth, but flooding during heavy rain can damage non-resistant crops.
  • A new Flood Plain Slider in World Settings adjusts flood risks for your map.
  • Flooding areas are visible on overlays for fertility, water, and growth rate, with visual indicators for flooded and fertile areas.
  • Roads act as elevated paths on Flood Plains, speeding up movement even during floods.
[hr][/hr]Traditional Turnip Lanterns


  • Four new decorative lantern designs celebrate Samhain. Each lantern casts unique lighting effects, adding spooky charm to your homestead.
[hr][/hr]New Difficulty Modes


  • Nature’s Wrath: Survival is brutal as nature challenges every choice.
  • The Long Haul: Slower pacing for a longer-lived Clan.
  • The Lean Years: Scarce resources and tough trading conditions test your resilience.
  • The Works!: All difficulty modes active at once for the ultimate challenge.
  • Difficulty toggles can be adjusted in-game via Settings, with options for customization.
[hr][/hr]Lightning Upgrades

  • Lightning behavior now prioritizes high points, including mountains and large trees.
  • Flammable roofs transmit damage but provide some protection.
  • Mountain and stone roofs offer full protection from lightning strikes.
[hr][/hr]Baby Toys and Toyboxes

  • Babies now play with Straw Dolls, which can be stored in toyboxes. This system is still in progress, but it adds a new layer of realism and charm to your Clanfolk.

  • Dried Berries are now available, lasting 12 days and offering a way to preserve fruit for winter.
[hr][/hr]Caves and Rocky Overhangs

  • New maps can generate sheltered mountain overhangs and caves, providing natural cover for early cooking and resting zones during harsh weather.
The Testing Branch is open to everyone under Steam > Clanfolk > Properties > Betas. We’d love to hear your feedback on these updates as we ready them for Update 16!
