We're very excited to introduce a major update today that changes almost every aspect of the game. Much thanks to everyone that provided much needed feedback in the last year since launch. Let us know any issues, bugs, and feedback via Discord or support email.
NOTE: This update is a significant change from the original game. Existing saves will upgrade to the new resources available but it's recommended to either start a new game or replay the tutorial on another save slot to get familiar with the new combat mechanics.
Combat V2
A complete overhaul of the combat system based on player feedback. We've heard loud and clear that the original system was too complicated and not all that much fun. The new system increases the lethality of pilots significantly, giving the player more options on how to approach combat encounters.
- Pilot weapons can now damage ship hulls. All ship armor and shield upgrades are now tied to sub-systems which pilots can seek out and destroy.
- Expanded the pilot holster to include all researched weapons. Pilots no longer have to return to the carrier to change loadouts.
- Removed max speed limits from pilot boost upgrades. Moving around the battlefield is easier and this is now a required upgrade due to some new threats mid-campaign.
Campaign Polish
We revamped the progression tree, research system, and all combat encounters. The feedback was unanimous and similar to the combat system. It was unnecessary complicated. We cleaned up the 6 different resources down to 2. There are now Nanites (for deploying support ships) and Research Cores (for upgrades). Players can use the research cores to progress into their preferred play-styles. Good tactical use of support ships will leave a surplus of Nanites that can be used for further upgrades.
Multiplayer Update
The networking backend has been replaced with a cross-platform capable solution. We're currently working on other platform releases and this is a necessary update for any future cross-platform co-op. The new system utilizes a roomcode system to make it easy to setup co-op games with friends on any platform, while sidestepping a lot of the issues we had with the SteamVR invite system.
