Cell to Singularity - Evolution Never Ends News

Extra Extra Read All About It

Greetings Universe Architects,

We have an exciting new update to kick off the New Year.
News Feature
We are thrilled to announce a new feature that's been widely requested, it's our in-game news announcement. Whether or not you’re following us on Discord, Instagram, Reddit, or elsewhere, tap on the news icon to read about the latest in-game updates, information on events, community spotlights, development diaries, and much more!
Clean Endings for Explore Events
We've changed how Explore Events conclude in the game. Previously, when an event (ex:- James Webb) was over, players could continue playing the event for as long as they did not exit the simulation. However, this was confusing for players and created issues for the research race.

Starting with build v22.93, Explore Events will close at the time scheduled in the game. When the time is up, it’s up! Make sure to claim all your mission prizes before the deadline. They will no longer be available after the event ends.

This patch might be small but we have big things coming soon on the horizon. Players should keep an eye out in our socials and the in-game news feature.

See you in the news feed. Stay cellular!

Witness a Star’s Final Bow in Beyond E22: When Stars Die

Hello Universe Architects,

With Semblance’s lead, we’ve traversed through the stars and distant exoplanets of the Milky Way. While we take a brief moment to circle back, we’ll be learning about a celestial phenomenon that astonishes and amazes.

We’ve seen stars at their births, then we’ve followed them as they aged. But what happens when a star has met the end of its lifespan?

Come with us to the stellar graveyard. It’s time to see how dying stars form some of the most beautiful nebulae.
Nebulae Like Never Before
Ever see the good side of a nebula? Neither have we, until now. For several months our team has researched and speculated the distinct shapes of certain nebulae in 360 degrees— not just how they appear from the single direction of Earth. And now those nebulae are available for player research in the Beyond garden!
 • Examine three 3D nebulae in the Beyond Garden: the Helix, Cat’s Eye, and Hourglass Nebulae.
 • Enjoy newly visualized nebulae with unique textures and effects.
 • Speculate along with us! How do you think these nebulae would appear in a 3D space?
Into the Eye of the Nebula
Every nebula is unique, but just how unique can they be? Some nebulae form impossible shapes while others produce less gas than 1% of our Sun’s mass.
 • Follow Semblance’s deep space journey on the Beyond tree and unlock the three new nebulae as their own generators.
 • Boost your Beyond simulation with eight new Enhancement Trait Cards, and learn more about the formation of nebulae along the way.
Astronomical Achievements
There’s always something new to discover in the simulation. This time around, you’ll be able to discover new Beyond achievements, constellations and more.
 • Unlock six new achievements celebrating the unique features of nebulae.
 • Unfold two new constellations with their own achievements: Perseus and Ara.
Additional Features:
• Performance improvements have been made in all simulations. The most substantial boosts have been made for the Beyond and the Mesozoic Valley tree.
 • Expanded default and custom notation past E200 - now production past E100 will no longer default to scientific notation (you can finally get one quinquinquagintillion entropy).
 • The overall game has a smaller download size.
 • Animations in the Civilization Garden for the Neolithic Age have been improved.
 • Promo Bundles are now always available in the Boost Menu and Darwinium Store. They don’t disappear once you’ve bought one.
 • Fixed: Quitting/crashing out of ads loses the whole boost streak. With this fixed, you should keep the boost from any ad watched even if a later ad crashes the game or if you quit.
Beyond E22: When Stars Die is available to play now on Steam and will be available to all Android and iOS players by Wednesday, December 20th at 11:59 PM EST.
Even though it takes dying stars to form these nebulae, there is still beauty in death. While their formations and compositions may contain some mysteries today, astronomers are learning exciting things about them as we continue our search into space.

These nebulae aren’t the only exciting pieces of news. In January of 2024, we’ll be releasing our first Explore Event of the year: Explore: Human Body — Anatomy of Life. We’re going smaller in scale to dissect the intricacies of the human body (and what makes it so impressive). Soon we will be on holiday break from 12/23/2023 to 01/08/2024. We can’t wait to see you again in the new year!

No matter the scale, there’s always something new to learn in the world of science. Join us and Semblance as we continue our quest for knowledge out into the cosmos. Until the next episode (and don’t forget to redeem your advent calendar prizes starting from 12/20/2023 until 01/01/2024)!

Finding Another Earth in Beyond E21: Echoes of Earth

Hello Universe Architects,

We found some unforgettable exoplanets in the last Beyond episode, though none of them were suitable to support organic life.

So our search continues! Will we find a planet with a perfectly balanced atmosphere in our lifetime, or is humanity chasing an interstellar dream?

We’re calling out into the cosmos and hoping a new kind of exoplanet will reply. It’s time to venture into…

Beyond E21: Echoes of Earth
A Second Home Planet…?
Progress is made every day towards discovering a habitable exoplanet. Find new celestial characters in the Beyond garden that represent humanity’s findings in our continued search through outer space.

 • When engaged, a Time Flux charge will be used.
 • Charges only replenish after 15 minutes have passed.
 • If all charges are used, a player can not Time Flux until a charge has replenished.
Beyond E21: Echoes of Earth is now available to unlock and play on Steam, and will be available to all Android and iOS players by December 3, 2023.
Join us as we continue our journey into the great Beyond! Where will Semblance lead us once we’ve learned more about the possibilities of hospitable exoplanets? Only time will tell.

While we wait for this exoplanet to introduce itself, please enjoy Beyond E21: Echoes of Earth. The discoveries made by NASA and other major astronomical organizations are incredibly astounding, and we’re grateful to be part of a journey that is history in the making.

They aren’t the only people hard at work, though. The Cells team has more exciting content planned for release before the end of the year! We also want to thank our beta testers for their dedication as we strive to make cutting-edge scientific content that’s fun to play.

Keep an eye out for more information about our final livestream of the year, coming in December! We hope you’ve also enjoyed our most recent dev diary entry. We do our best to record and implement player feedback, We’re forever grateful to the Cells community for your support and everything you’ve provided to make Cell To Singularity the best it can be.
May Echoes of Earth keep you curious until the next update. Stay cellular!

Dev Diary for Nov – Fixing bugs and Looking ahead

Welcome back, Universe Architects!

Thanksgiving has passed with a lot of updates and excitement. We released the latest installment of the Civilization: Neolithic Age update and our third limited-time event of the year, Explore: Music – Good Vibrations. We hope everyone has been enjoying the new content.

A big thank you to our beta and Steam players for keeping a watchful eye out for some bugs last month. Thanks to their vigilance, we were able to apply hotfixes early. For context, in September, we saw an uptick in crashes. To resolve those issues, we updated our Unity from version 2020.3.33f1 to version 2022.3.10f1. And it worked – the game’s crash rate on Android went down from 3-4% to less than 1%.

Along with the Unity upgrade, we also updated our APIs and Ads SDKs. Unfortunately, this resulted in the Cell to Singularity banner blocking the exit button for some players, meaning they were unable to exit ads. We also saw some reports of players losing their Darwinium inventory. Thankfully, we were able to resolve both issues quickly, and we strongly advise all our players to update to the latest versions to address most issues they might encounter. The Marketing/ Community team has also been reaching out to players from our various socials to provide help where needed. A thank you again to the community for supporting each other.

Quick tip: Another solution to restore any lost inventory is to use the backup save option. The game autosaves progress in different intervals in the background. Players should take advantage of this feature as their first line of defense in protecting their save files.

If you have already updated to the latest version and still encounter problems, please do the following:
 • Email [email protected] with your platform/device and the latest build version number.
 • If multiple devices are used, mention the build version numbers installed.
 • Give a detailed summary of the issue.

More quality of life improvements are in the works for next year. The goal is to avoid disruptions while continuing to add lots of new content to the game:
 • We are working on an anti-cheat system for Research Race events. The challenge has been for the system to recognize and separate out players who do not use legitimate methods to finish the race.
 • We are also testing several new performance optimizations. This should help the game to run smoothly, even on older phones.
 • An in-game news feature system is also planned, to share the latest news and updates in the game. This feature is especially important for instances where players are required to update their game versions in order to enjoy the latest content.

We are excited to hear players’ feedback for the Explore: Music – Good Vibrations garden. We are currently experimenting with various formats and approaches to in-game events, and are curious about what players like, so make sure to share your thoughts with us.

Stay tuned for December as we mark the last livestream of 2023 to celebrate all the content released over the year. (The November livestream was skipped because of Thanksgiving). This November, we are grateful for you, our players. Cells has grown bigger and better thanks to your continued support. The year hasn’t ended yet and we have a jam packed schedule of content ready for you to enjoy over the coming holidays. Can you guess what’s next?

Beyond Episode 21 is coming soon! Semblance’s journey continues as her projections have yielded inconclusive results. Her quest for another rare, earth-like planet that could sustain life continues. After re-calculating her trajectory, it looks like she might have found something, an echo of something similar. Keep an eye out for Beyond Episode 21: Echoes of Earth to find out more.

Always thankful, stay cellular!

Listen closely in Explore: Music — “Good Vibrations”

Welcome Universe Architects!

Coming in hot after the release of the Civilization: Neolithic Age update, a new event has taken the stage. For today’s show, it’s time to get loud. Hop to the beat and blow your horn. Clap your hands for Explore: Music — Good Vibrations, live today at 11 AM EST.

Sound is all around us, from the crash of a wave to the tap of a foot. It takes something truly special to turn a sound, a beat or a couple of notes into a medium that can captivate and inspire. How have humans managed to form a global phenomenon from such a simple concept?

Notes take the Stage🎶

Explore the journey from sound to music as we follow humanity’s drive for creativity. From the bang of a primitive drum to sensational pop, this tree's beat is truly unique.
 • Listen through seven new generators and fifty three trait nodes as you explore through the evolution of sound.
 • Tap to collect new currency and add to your melodious ensemble: Music Notes and Songs.
 • Blare the new Saxophone Quantum Charge to gain new currencies.
 • Follow the history of music from what was once an isolated group activity to a worldwide phenomenon accessible to all. Everyone can be a star!

Coming to You Live🎤

Listen closely and you’ll be able to hear the different BGM tracks between the tree and garden view. The BGM track is noticeably softer in the garden so that the sounds from the instruments can shine through.
 • Create a band with a new instrument with each generator unlocked. Show us your inner musician by playing on the instruments in the garden view.
 • Instruments strut their stuff as musical notes and sound effects appear with each tap.
 • Nanobots are dancing to the beat as both new currencies can be redeemed in the new event.

Exclusive New Rewards

Get them while they're hot! Available only in this show, three new badges are available for all to indulge.
 • Enjoy popular hits with new badges- Waves of Sound, A Melodic Recipe and A Musical Mix as they reach top charts.
 • A new logit prize is ready to be added to your collection. Listen to eight songs from across the simulations in your portable Jukebox.

Explore: Music — Good Vibrations is available to all players today, November 20th at 11AM EST!

Accompanying the release, we will also have a Let’s Play event today on Discord from 11am to 12pm EST. Play together with the devs as we talk about the event. Let us know how much you are able to complete within the hour.

Tune in next week as we release another dev diary. We will sadly be skipping this month’s livestream due to the Thanksgiving (US) holiday. We have another livestream scheduled for December to mark the end of 2023.

We would like to thank our beta test players for giving us feedback to help fine tune the event. Your support was crucial as we welcomed a new member to the team. All players are encouraged to give us feedback and we can’t wait to hear what you think of this event.

Thank you for listening. Always stay cellular!
