Hi everyone!
I hope your summer's going well, mine has been exceedingly busy, but in a good way. I'm currently hard at work finishing up my parody game as well as starting a second Kickstarter attempt for Vampire Syndicate, which is shaping up to be a real challenger to the current video game market.
That got me thinking about why I originally chose my main online handle, ManlyMouseDan, years and years ago (pointless trivia, but the original name of my business was Manly Mouse Studios).
I chose it because I found a mouse with a giant mustache funny and cute, but also because I am an absolute nobody from nowhere. I am an underdog of underdogs. I came into the industry with no money and no connections... not that I have either now. And to be honest, my skill (writing) was probably the least desirable (and certainly least well paid) in games.
With that said, I'm going up against massive corporations that have hundreds of millions to spend, with mature IPs and developed fanbases.
But they're wasting it. Year after year, they produce content that reveal what they think about their customers. That they don't respect them. Not their intelligence, or their time.
I wanted to change that, and now, as I look around, I see the situation has gotten even worse. So I am very excited, and very proud, to be able to put up a challenge, and I hope you'll help me.
